At Konecranes, we move goods, equipment and services across borders every day. As global trade regulations continue to evolve, we are looking for an APAC Regional Customs Compliance Lead to ensure compliance, manage customs risks and help prepare the business for emerging regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will serve as the APAC regional customs compliance expert, partnering with business stakeholders and global customs teams to ensure efficient and compliant cross-border operations while driving implementation of new customs and trade-related requirements.

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with today's customs requirements and for identifying, assessing and leading implementation of tomorrow's regional regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Customs Compliance & Governance

  • Oversee customs compliance activities across the region.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable import and export regulations.
  • Support compliance with customs classification, valuation, origin and declaration requirements.
  • Maintain customs governance frameworks, procedures and controls.
  • Support internal and external customs audits and corrective action programmes.

Regulatory Intelligence & Future Readiness

  • Monitor regional regulatory developments and assess business impacts.
  • Act as the regional lead for customs and trade regulatory developments across APAC, monitoring and driving compliance with evolving customs requirements, regional free trade agreement opportunities including RCEP and CPTPP, customs modernization initiatives, authorized economic operator programmes, import/export controls, customs valuation developments, and other customs and trade compliance requirements affecting the region.
  • Translate regulatory changes into practical business requirements and implementation plans.

Operational Customs Support

  • Manage customs escalations and customs holds.
  • Support interactions with customs authorities and customs brokers.
  • Ensure customs documentation and declaration processes remain compliant and efficient.
  • Identify and mitigate customs-related operational risks.

Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor customs compliance KPIs.
  • Analyse customs performance, trends and risk indicators.
  • Drive process improvements and support automation initiatives.
  • Promote best practices and harmonisation across the region.

Experience

  • Several years of experience in Customs Compliance, Trade Compliance, Customs Operations or a related area.
  • Experience working with customs regulations in an international business environment.
  • Experience supporting audits, compliance programmes and customs process improvements.
  • Experience collaborating with customs brokers and authorities is considered an advantage.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to assess regulatory changes and translate them into business actions.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of import and export compliance, customs valuation, rules of origin, customs classification, customs declarations and customs procedures.
  • Act as the regional lead for customs and trade regulatory developments across APAC, monitoring and driving compliance with evolving requirements including major regional free trade agreements such as RCEP and CPTPP, customs modernization initiatives, AEO programmes, import and export controls, customs valuation, multi-country customs compliance frameworks, duty optimization opportunities, and other customs and trade compliance developments affecting the region.
