This is your opportunity to connect to something bigger through our global network while developing your technical expertise, client management capabilities and leadership skills in an environment where people are at the centre of what we do and no two days are the same.

As an Assistant Manager, you will work closely with Managers, Directors and Partners to deliver high-quality tax compliance and advisory services to a diverse client base. You will take ownership of engagements, support client relationships, review work prepared by junior team members and contribute to the ongoing development of our people and practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other compliance obligations.
  • Assist in delivering tax advice across a broad range of client matters.
  • Support compliance with Division 7A requirements and trust distribution planning.
  • Advise clients on the tax implications of different structures including companies, trusts, partnerships and corporate groups.
  • Provide business advisory support to private businesses and family groups.
  • Review work prepared by Consultants and Senior Consultants, ensuring technical accuracy and quality.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Coach and mentor junior team members to support their professional development.
  • Assist Managers and Partners in delivering complex client engagements and advisory projects.

How Are You Extraordinary?

  • Strong understanding of Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to balance compliance delivery with commercial and advisory thinking.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Your Experience

At KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful results.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Experience within Australian Business Services and Tax Advisory, ideally at Senior Accountant, Senior Analyst or Assistant Manager level.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns and BAS.
  • Familiarity with a broad range of entity structures including companies, trusts, partnerships and corporate groups.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with private businesses, family groups and entrepreneurial clients.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.
  • Experience reviewing work and providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Experience gained within a public practice accounting environment, preferably within a mid-tier or large accounting firm.
  • Completed CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Learn for a lifetime while making a meaningful impact for clients and colleagues.
