The Role

At Kyndryl, we design, build, manage, and modernize the mission-critical technology systems that top enterprise clients depend on every day. As a Customer Technical Solutioner within our Go-To-Market team, you will play a pivotal pre-sales leadership role, driving complex technical solutioning and advisory engagements across the United States.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor, collaborating directly with client executive leadership and IT decision-makers to solve complex business challenges. Operating in pre-sales and deal-design environments, you will craft tailored technical solutions that modernize core enterprise IT infrastructure while embedding high-value services into long-term strategic opportunities.

In this role, you will lead solution design, financial cost modeling, and contract negotiations up to signature. By aligning technical architectures with client business goals, you will ensure project profitability while helping enterprise customers achieve scalable digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Mainframe Modernization & Architecture

• Design and build scalable technical solutions that modernize legacy mainframes, zCloud, and core enterprise systems.

• Integrate traditional core infrastructures with modern, platform-agnostic hybrid cloud environments and AI capabilities.

• Translate complex customer requirements into high-value architectural designs, functional prototypes, and proof-of-concept demonstrations.

Pre-Sales Leadership & Client Advisory

• Direct the end-to-end pre-sales process across multi-month sales cycles, ensuring technical quality and alignment with customer needs.

• Partner with account leadership during high-level technology and business discussions with executive decision-makers.

• Deliver high-impact technical presentations, articulate value propositions, and help clients overcome technical roadblocks.

Deal Strategy & Profitability

• Define winning financial cost models and construct Statements of Work (SOW) that lead deals to long-term profitability.

• Manage contract negotiations up to the point of signature and facilitate smooth engagement handovers to delivery teams.

• Standardize go-to-market pitch materials across multiple industries to position Kyndryl as a market leader.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive technical experience in sales, pre-sales, and solution design for mainframe environments, z/OS, zCloud, or core enterprise infrastructure modernization.

• 5 years of experience in IT service management, IT sourcing, or IT strategy.

• Expertise with IT organizational models, IT governance, management and operating models, and IT financing models.

• Proven ability to design and build scalable technical solutions based on complex customer requirements and analysis.

• In-depth understanding of various IT domains including infrastructure management, cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.

• Demonstrated success leading pre-sales efforts, financial cost modeling, proposal development, and value translation for enterprise engagements.

• Excellent customer-facing communication, active personal brand, and presentation skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience in a consulting or advisory role providing strategic guidance and architecture solutions to enterprise customers.

• Hands-on experience modernizing legacy mainframes and integrating diverse systems into hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

• Experience supporting sales efforts by collaborating with account teams, preparing sales materials, and participating in client presentations.

• Experience selling and solutioning technical services for multi-industry enterprise customers operating in highly regulated compliance environments.

• Relevant technical certifications supporting subdomains such as Core Enterprise, zCloud, Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), Application Data and AI, Security and Resiliency, or Network and Edge.

• Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is - $161,520 to $290,760 based on a full-time schedule.

Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement.

There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations:

California (San Francisco Bay Area): $193,920 to $348,840

California (All Other): $177,720 to $319,800

Colorado: $161,520 to $290,760

Massachusetts: $161,520 to $319,800

New York City: $193,920 to $348,840

Washington: $177,720 to $319,800

Washington DC: $177,720 to $319,800

This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans. You may also receive a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental coverage, disability, retirement benefits, paid leave, and paid time off. Note: If this is a sales commission eligible role, you will be eligible to participate in a sales commission plan in lieu of the annual discretionary bonus program.
