The Role
This professional provides reliable technical support and operational expertise across mainframe and distributed system environments, contributing to the day-to-day stability and performance of critical platforms. This role requires hands-on technical skills, strong operational discipline, and the ability to work effectively within established processes and under guidance from senior team members.
The position supports mainframe operations using ISPF, TSO utilities, JCL, Control-M (BMC), DB2 tables, and dataset handling, assisting with batch processing, monitoring, and issue resolution. In distributed environments, the role contributes to the administration and support of Unix and Windows systems, including WebSphere JVMs, Citrix platforms, MQ, and virtualized infrastructures using VMware ESX. The Band 5 professional also supports the implementation and maintenance of Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019 environments, following standard procedures and best practices.
The role involves collaborating with peers and senior engineers to troubleshoot incidents, execute changes, and maintain service availability. While not a formal leadership position, the Band 5 professional demonstrates accountability, technical curiosity, and a willingness to learn, contributing to team effectiveness and continuous improvement initiatives. Fluent English is required to communicate clearly with global teams and stakeholders.
There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

Who You Are
Monitor jobs in Control-M (BMC) including status verification, log analysis, rerun of failed jobs, and parameter updates via Desktop or Web client.
Work with Unix/Linux environments: Directory navigation (cd, ls, pwd) File Manipulation (cp, mv, rm, cat, tail-f)
Permissions management (chmod) Processes management (ps, kill) Read and edit scripts and logs
Execute and validate SQL queries: intermediate-level queries (SELECT, WHERE, JOIN) for data validation - Perform INSERT and UPDATE for targeted data corrections.
Use Postman/APIs - Perform requests (GET, POST, PUT) - Validate status codes and response payloads.
Utilize Observability tools (Kibana, ELK, Dynatrace and Grafana) - Log search and analysis, error pattern identification, dashboards analysis, identification of bottlenecks and unexpected behaviors.
