The Role
Bring your specialist knowledge and experience to a company managing 50% of the world’s MIPS and play a critical role in our modernization mission. You’ll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely.
In this role, you’ll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time you’ll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframe’s core data.
The Senior Engineer - Safety Certification is responsible for software verification, validation, certification, and compliance activities supporting safety-critical embedded software programs. The role contributes to certification evidence generation, requirements traceability, verification activities, and compliance support for customer projects in Aerospace & Defense, Industrial, Medical, and Automotive domains. The position requires strong embedded software, verification, and DO-178C expertise and works closely with global engineering and certification teams.
Responsibilities
Execute software verification and validation activities in accordance with DO-178C standards.
Perform requirements-based testing and verification activities.
Review and validate High-Level Requirements (HLRs) and Low-Level Requirements (LLRs).
Support end-to-end traceability between requirements, design, implementation, and verification artifacts.
Perform defect analysis, root cause investigation, and debugging activities.
Conduct static analysis, code reviews, and structural coverage assessments.
Create and maintain certification evidence and compliance documentation.
Support certification audits and regulatory reviews.
Collaborate with global engineering, program, and certification teams.
Mentor junior engineers in certification processes and tools.
Support continuous process improvement initiatives.

Required Technical & Professional Expertise
10+ years of experience in software engineering, verification, validation, or safety certification.
Strong expertise in DO-178C certification, compliance, verification & validation (V&V), requirements traceability, and audit support.
Hands-on experience in embedded software development, C/Embedded C, BSPs, device drivers, and SDLC processes.
Proficiency with LDRA, Polarion, DOORS, Git, Jira, Linux, and Python.
Experience leading certification activities and delivering safety-critical software projects.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Technical & Professional Experience
Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience leading safety-critical software certification programs.
Experience managing global or distributed engineering teams.
Exposure to VxWorks, Embedded Linux, and Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP).
Familiarity with safety standards such as IEC 61508, ISO 26262, and IEC 50128.
Experience supporting customer audits, certification reviews, and compliance engagements.
Proven ability to mentor teams and drive process improvements in certification environments.
