Role Summary

The Sr. Officer - EHS is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) systems across project sites. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, client requirements, and company HSE standards while fostering a strong safety culture. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments, implementing preventive measures, investigating incidents, and coordinating with project teams to achieve zero harm objectives.

The position demands extensive experience in construction, infrastructure, renewable energy, power transmission, industrial, or EPC projects where safety management plays a critical role in project execution. The individual shall act as a key interface between project management, contractors, workers, and regulatory authorities to ensure safe project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Implement company EHS policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines across project operations.

Ensure compliance with statutory safety requirements, client specifications, and international best practices.

Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) for various project activities and ensure implementation of mitigation measures.

Develop and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Method Statements, and Safe Work Procedures.

Administer and monitor Permit to Work (PTW) systems for critical activities.

Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, site walkthroughs, and compliance assessments.

Monitor compliance related to work at height, lifting operations, excavation activities, electrical safety, confined space entry, and heavy equipment operations.

Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and unsafe conditions.

Prepare detailed investigation reports and ensure implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Monitor contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to project safety requirements.

Conduct safety induction programs for employees, subcontractors, and visitors.

Organize toolbox talks, safety campaigns, awareness programs, and behavioral safety initiatives.

Facilitate emergency preparedness planning and conduct periodic emergency response drills.

Maintain records related to safety inspections, audits, incidents, permits, training, and compliance requirements.

Coordinate with project management teams to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into execution activities.

Monitor occupational health programs and employee welfare initiatives.

Support environmental compliance activities including waste management, pollution prevention, environmental monitoring, and resource conservation.

Ensure availability and proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Track key EHS performance indicators and prepare monthly management reports.

Liaise with client representatives, consultants, government agencies, and regulatory authorities regarding EHS matters.

Promote continuous improvement initiatives aimed at strengthening the organization's safety culture.

Minimum Qualification (Comma Separated)

B.E./B.Tech (Any Engineering Discipline), Diploma in Industrial Safety, Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS), PG Diploma in Industrial Safety, NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, Certified Safety Professional (Preferred).
