Buyer

Leidos Security Enterprise Solutions (SES) currently has an opening for a Buyer to join our Supply Chain team in Ladson, South Carolina. This is an opportunity to support a fast-paced manufacturing environment responsible for delivering advanced security detection and automation solutions to customers around the world.

The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and procuring materials, components, equipment, and services in support of manufacturing, engineering, and program requirements. This position will work closely with suppliers and internal partners across Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments.

The successful candidate will have experience in purchasing or supply chain, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while building effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage procurement activities for materials, components, equipment, and services supporting manufacturing and program requirements.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in response to MRP-generated demand and other business requirements.
• Develop and negotiate favorable pricing, delivery schedules, terms, and other commercial conditions consistent with business requirements and procurement policies.
• Create and manage supplier solicitations and requests for quotation (RFQs).
• Evaluate supplier quotations and proposals and make supplier recommendations based on price, quality, delivery, capability, and overall value.
• Perform price and cost analysis to support procurement decisions and negotiations.
• Work directly with suppliers to resolve pricing, delivery, quality, and other performance issues.
• Monitor open purchase orders and proactively address potential material shortages or schedule risks.
• Maintain accurate procurement documentation and purchase order files in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Support purchase order administration, modifications, file maintenance, and closeout activities.
• Develop and maintain productive relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
• Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and other Supply Chain functions to support production schedules and changing business priorities.
• Support proposal activities by obtaining supplier quotations, pricing, lead times, and other required information.
• Manage procurements of moderate complexity and risk, escalating more complex contractual or supplier issues as appropriate.
• Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, supplier performance, cost, and operational efficiency.
• Support additional procurement and supply chain activities as business needs require.

Basic Qualifications

• 2-4 years of relevant purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
• Experience working with MRP/ERP systems in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience creating and managing purchase orders and working directly with suppliers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer-service mindset and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to identify issues, work through problems, and follow through to resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience supporting procurement within an aerospace, aviation, defense, security, or advanced manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint, SAP, or similar ERP systems.
• Experience negotiating supplier pricing, delivery schedules, and terms and conditions.
• Experience conducting price or cost analysis.
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), specifications, and other technical documentation.
• Knowledge of government contracting and procurement requirements.
• Experience supporting production environments with changing material requirements and delivery priorities.
