Distribution Engineering Supervisor

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor in Richmond, VA to support the Joint Use Make Ready Design Program by providing day-to-day supervision, technical guidance, and operational support to personnel performing Joint Use engineering, design, fielding, and related activities. This role helps coordinate workloads and priorities, reviews work for compliance with applicable standards, and works with Regional Leads, telecom attachers, permitting teams, and internal stakeholders as needed. The Supervisor supports timely, accurate deliverables and assists program leadership in maintaining quality, consistency, and team performance.

Location: This position is an office role based in Richmond, VA, with a preference for candidates who can work in the office 3-4 days per week. The selected candidate must be available to travel to the Richmond office on an as-needed basis. Occasional travel to client facilities, client meetings, field locations, training events or project sites may be required. Work assignments and priorities may shift base on program workload, schedules, staffing needs, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

• Directly supervise engineering, design, field, and technical personnel supporting the Joint Use Program
• Provide day-to-day technical, operational, and personnel guidance to assigned staff
• Assist with coordinating and prioritizing employee assignments based on project schedules, available resources, employee capabilities, and changing client needs
• Monitor individual and assigned team productivity, workload, schedules, utilization, and deliverable quality
• Review Joint Use engineering and design work for compliance with standards, applicable codes, and program requirements
• Perform and support QA/QC activities to maintain accurate, consistent, and high-quality deliverables
• Support Joint Use Make Ready engineering, fielding, permitting, post-inspection, and other related program activities as assigned
• Coordinate with Regional Leads, telecom attachers, permitting teams, and internal stakeholders as needed to support project execution
• Act as a secondary technical and operational contact for Joint Use representatives as appropriate
• Assist in resolving technical, operational, field, and workflow-related issues, escalating significant issues to program leadership as needed
• Support employee development through coaching, feedback, training, and knowledge sharing
• Assist with employee performance management, regular check-ins, onboarding, and development of assigned personnel
• Promote consistent application of Joint Use processes, standards, procedures, and best practices
• Contribute to process improvement, workflow efficiency, and quality initiatives
• Support program leadership with staffing, workload planning, resource coordination, reporting, and other operational needs as requested

Background Requirements:

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience is required.
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
• Working knowledge of electric distribution engineering principles, including overhead and underground distribution systems
• Familiarity with Joint Use, Make Ready engineering, pole attachments, permitting, and third-party attachment processes
• Understanding of NESC, GO95, utility construction standards, and distribution design practices
• Familiarity with Joint Use standards, systems, and processes preferred
• Working knowledge of pole loading analysis software such as O-Calc Pro, SPIDAcalc, or equivalent, and familiarity with GIS tools
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support team members, clients, and project stakeholders
• Ability to review technical work products, identify issues, and provide constructive feedback and guidance
• Ability to support technical and operational problem-solving through collaboration and structured analysis
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to help manage competing priorities and schedule commitments
• Ability to adapt to changing workloads, project requirements, and client priorities
