POSITION SUMMARY:

This position provides leadership within the Maintenance Department and is responsible for supervising maintenance personnel, including plant maintenance, mobile maintenance, and electrical staff. The position works closely with the management team and collaborates across departments, including Production, Quarry Operations, and Quality, to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Scheduling and line out of daily maintenance work

• Coordinate with the Maintenance Manager to assess and prioritize maintenance work orders based on operational needs and urgency.
• Assist in developing daily and weekly maintenance schedules and coordinating the procurement of necessary goods and services.
• Maintain SAP processes and procedures, including training team members on proper system use.
• Ensure maintenance work is completed in accordance with established standards, specifications, and guidelines.
• Follow and promote spare parts inventory management best practices to support equipment reliability and availability.
• Manage maintenance activities in alignment with established departmental budget targets.
• Lead daily planning and scheduling meetings with Production to identify and coordinate maintenance opportunities.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by working with the maintenance team to identify and implement equipment reliability and performance improvements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain a defined Preventative Maintenance program to improve equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Establish and monitor key maintenance metrics, including equipment uptime, and develop sustainable solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability.

Leadership of mechanics and maintenance staff

• Demonstrate positive and effective leadership while encouraging communication and collaboration across departments and functions.
• Track and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure progress toward departmental and operational goals.
• Provide ongoing coaching, direction, development opportunities, and constructive feedback to direct reports regarding daily activities, projects, and performance expectations.
• Lead and motivate the maintenance team to achieve departmental and operational objectives while maintaining safety as the highest priority.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations to employees, management, and other stakeholders.

• Drive and lead a positive safety culture.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, practices and procedures.
• Demonstrate environmental and safety regulatory leadership.

Other

• Must have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Previous SAP or similar system knowledge is a plus.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

ATTRIBUTES:

• Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, rotating shifts, if required.
• Must be able to assist production in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, and performance management.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects as required for the position.
• Good understanding of environmental, safety and the ability to following all established procedures are required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
• Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve mobile equipment powertrain.
• Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to industrial high temperature, noise and dust.
• Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
• Will be working in both an office environment and in a mining/lime environment.
• The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
• The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking,seeing, hearing and sitting.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

• High School Diploma or GED.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance supervisor, lead or other leadership role in a fast paced manufacturing, construction, and/or mining/mineral processing environment is required.

PREFFERED EDUCATION:

• AA or BS Technical degree in mechanical, electrical and/or related field is preferred with strong diesel engine, powertrain, electronics of heavy mobile equipment background and/or equivalent work experience in the field. BS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineer, business or related field.
