Description

About Frontier

Liberty Mutual is undertaking Frontier, a multi-year business and technology transformation to radically simplify Personal Lines and deliver our products on a modern, unified insurance platform. It is one of

USRM’s most important investments - simplifying how we go to market, accelerating speed and agility, and unlocking significant value across the business.

About Frontier Integrated Solutions (FIS)

Frontier Integrated Solutions is the central team that connects and orchestrates delivery across Frontier. FIS is the connective tissue across the program - we integrate cross-domain plans into a coherent roadmap, establish the process and governance that keep the program disciplined, create the visibility leaders rely on, surface risks and dependencies early, quarterback our line-of-business programs, and strengthen the domain expertise at the heart of delivery. Our mandate: connect and orchestrate the work across Frontier - and give leaders the clarity to act - so the program delivers on time and at scale.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Director, Product Owner (DPO) to lead the domain Product Owners (PPOs) who sit at the heart of Frontier delivery. The domain PPOs are the bridge between the Frontier program and each domain - including Distribution, Claims & Service, Finance, Guidewire PolicyCenter, and Quality & E2E Testing - ensuring each domain’s work is well-planned, sequenced, dependency-aware, and connected across the program. The depth these teams provide is where Frontier is won or lost. The DPO is both the leader who develops, supports, and advocates for the domain PPOs, and the strategic architect who brings structure and a plan to the complex, cross-cutting problems that don’t belong to any single domain. The DPO strengthens the depth the domains provide and amplifies the domain voice across the program - while ensuring domain PPOs remain directly present in the forums where their input matters.

**This role may have in-office requirements dependent upon candidate location.**

What You’ll Do

Domain Leadership & Capability

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of domain PPOs; own their craft quality, consistency, and professional growth.
  • Balance the capacity and deployment of domain PPOs against demand across lines of business.
  • Establish consistent standards and ways of working across domains; advise on the PO profiles and skills needed to support the work.
  • Serve as a dedicated advocate for the domains - carrying a strong, unified domain voice into program leadership forums.

Strategic Architecture for Cross-Cutting Work

  • Bring structure and strategy to complex, cross-cutting challenges that span domains and lines of business - build the framework, organize the approach, identify the right participants, and assign
  • clear owners.
  • Mobilize these bodies of work and hand them off cleanly to their accountable owners (LOB PPOs own the outcome; domain PPOs champion their piece).
  • Organize the domains’ collective response to major program shifts, such as scope changes and re-sequencing.

Cross-Domain Readiness & Connection

  • Ensure domain elaboration plans are realistic, sequenced, and account for cross-domain dependencies.
  • Strengthen how domains connect to one another and to the broader program; help spot and resolve cross-domain risks early.
  • Act as an amplifier and unblocker for the domains - extending their reach and voice, not replacing their direct presence in the working forums where domain input is needed.

Partnership

  • Partner closely with LOB PPOs (who own end-to-end product solutions), Transformation Leads (who quarterback LOB programs), and the Enablement team (who lead the program’s process, governance, and reporting).
  • Ensure domain input is well-represented across planning, governance, and executive forums - without becoming a bottleneck between the domains and the program.

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge product management, Agile development methodologies, and experience in organizational change management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, etc) and a minimum of 10 years` experience in product development, business, marketing, technology, and/or consulting.
  • Master`s degree preferred.
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts across an entire business unit.
  • High level of proven outcomes managing and mentoring product managers, product owners, and people leaders.
  • Technical proficiency required to participate in program increment planning and have an informed, independent voice.
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills in order to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business.
  • Proven experience with Agile practices and expectations.
  • Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both written and verbal.
  • Encourages non-hierarchical culture.
