Responsibilities

Detailed Tasks

  • Own the end-to-end physical movement of material from factory release/collection through freight, customs clearance, warehouse receipt, put-away and customer collection or final delivery.
  • Own the end-to-end physical execution of reverse logistics, including core returns, warranty returns, supplier/factory returns, buy-backs and Reman shipments.
  • Ensure timely, accurate and controlled movement of returnable material between customers, sites, warehouses, suppliers, factories and Reman facilities, including cross-border movements.
  • Monitor reverse-logistics performance, ageing, documentation and outstanding movements, and drive corrective action to prevent delays, losses and value leakage.
  • Lead warehouse and logistics digitalization, including transaction automation, barcode/scanning solutions, real-time shipment visibility, dashboarding and integration with ERP and future digital platforms.
  • Within approved DOA, the Warehouse & Logistics Manager has authority for transport mode/carrier selection, shipment prioritization, warehouse resource deployment, emergency logistics actions, inventory quarantine, freight claims and warehouse capacity decisions

Inventory integrity and warehouse control

  • Accountable for safe and compliant warehouse and transport operations, including material handling, loading/unloading, storage, traffic management and lifting activities, in accordance with Liebherr, statutory and customer site HSE requirements.
  • Own and standardize warehouse and logistics operations across all LZM locations, including central warehouses, branch and site stores, project stores and consignment stock locations.
  • Own inventory accuracy across all stores and the cycle count programme, and report variance to the Parts Manager and Finance.
  • Set warehouse policy - storage, protection, FIFO, tooling control and housekeeping - and audit against it.
  • Manage surplus and obsolete stock and propose write-off or disposal action.
  • Own ERP transaction discipline across receiving, transfer, issue and dispatch.
  • Establish and enforce common standards for receiving, storage, inventory control, materials handling, picking, packing, dispatch and logistics execution across the network.
  • Monitor performance across the warehouse and logistics network and drive corrective actions where service, inventory accuracy, compliance or operational performance falls below agreed standards.
  • Oversee warehouse capacity, resources, infrastructure and logistics requirements across locations to support Parts, Service, Remanufacturing, Projects and customer operations.
  • Hold all warehouse and logistics locations accountable to operate as one integrated network, with common standards, disciplined execution and clear ownership for inventory integrity, parts availability, on-time delivery and customer service performance.
  • Own warehouse layout, storage infrastructure, racking, space utilisation and material flow to ensure safe, efficient and scalable operations.
  • Plan and maintain warehouse capacity, material-handling equipment and facility readiness in line with current demand and future business growth.
  • Identify and implement infrastructure, capacity and expansion requirements to eliminate operational constraints and support service, project and customer needs.
  • Review damage reports on quarantined stock and decide on repair, rework, claim or write-off action.

Receiving, dispatch and site response

  • Own end-to-end throughput from goods receipt to site delivery and hold the function to response-time commitments.
  • Plan resourcing and shift coverage around service, shutdown and project demand rather than reacting to requests.
  • Resolve escalations on urgent and critical part movements with Parts, Service and Projects.
  • Approve Field Incident Report (FIR) outcomes, validating discrepancy resolutions and escalating to the Operations GM where required.

Logistics, compliance and cost

  • Own inbound and outbound freight performance, transport selection and clearing lead times.
  • Own carrier, clearing-agent and 3PL performance, including contracts/SLA adherence, freight performance, claims, cost improvement and corrective actions.
  • Anticipate warehouse capacity, resource, transport and network requirements and develop solutions aligned with future business demand.
  • Ensure customs, import, export and Incoterms compliance on all movements and that documentation is audit-ready.
  • Own the function budget - freight, clearing, storage, handling equipment and labour - and report variance monthly.
  • Ensure incoming goods are verified for quantity, condition and documentation, and manage discrepancies, freight damage and claims through resolution.
  • Own ZRA releases following customs clearance, including clearance of items received on over-delivery, additional shipments and returns.

Process Ownership

  • Receive-to-Stock
  • Store-to-Preserve
  • Pick-Pack-Dispatch
  • Dispatch-to-Delivery
  • Freight & Customs Management
  • Physical Inventory Control and
  • Reverse Logistics & FIR

Reporting

  • Own the development, accuracy and routine review of Warehouse & Logistics performance dashboards, ensuring reliable visibility of operational, inventory, service, cost and HSE performance across all locations.
  • Monitor agreed KPIs, identify performance gaps and trends, and drive corrective actions with clear ownership and due dates until closure.
  • Ensure dashboards are progressively automated through approved ERP, Power BI and digital reporting platforms and are used as active management tools for operational decision-making and continuous improvement. This aligns with the restructure requirement that reporting should drive decisions and accountability rather than exist as a passive reporting activity.

Team

  • Lead, develop and performance-manage the three supervisors; build inventory and logistics capability across the team.
  • Plan succession for the supervisory layer and build the officer pipeline with L&D.
