This is a PRN position providing support across a variety of diagnostic services, including general ultrasound, OB ultrasound, vascular ultrasound, and stress testing. There is also an opportunity for cross-training.
How you’ll contribute
An Ultrasound Technician, PRN who excels in this role:
- Positions, transfers and properly immobilizes patients as required.
- Prepares patient for ultrasound exams including patient education regarding exam.
- Review medical record for relevant medical history.
- Prepares patient for ultrasound exams including patient education regarding exam.
- Documentation of ultrasound measurements and pertinent findings.
- Reviews and consults with interpreting physicians.
- Maintains ultrasound room and equipment according to policies.
- Maintains patient’s records and images.
- Participates in quality assurance.
- Orders and maintains ultrasound equipment and supplies.
- Participates in continuing education.
- Performs diagnostic abdominal and pelvic ultrasound studies.
- Performs diagnostic vascular (carotid, extremity venous and arterial ) ultrasound studies.
- Performs diagnostic obstetric ultrasound studies.
- Maintains records and statistics of ultrasound studies.
- Maintains professional skills and provides age-specific needs to patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatric).
- Follows safety procedures and guidelines and reports unsafe practices and conditions.
- Participates in peer competencies.
- Provides On Call coverage as needed.
- Updates ultrasound policies and procedures.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-services.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively.
- Adheres to time schedule exhibiting flexibility when necessary.
- Knowledge of PACS and EPICS.
- Knowledge of teleradiography and how to upload studies and contact physicians.
- Burns discs when necessary.
- Assists with coordinating PM and other service on equipment.
- Maintains adequate supplies.
- Trophon knowledge.
- ABI machine training.

What we’re looking for
Applicants should be a Graduate or graduate within 90 days of an approved school of ultrasonography. Additional requirements include:
- Must be registered with the ARDMS and/or registry eligible.
- One year of ultrasonography experience or graduate of approved school of ultrasound.
ARDMS- eligible or must become registered within 1 year of hire or ARRT (U)- eligible or must become registered within 1 year of hire.
*NOTE: If not registered, must take a portion of ARDMS Registry exam or ARRT (U) exam within 120 days of hire.
CPR.
- Echo boards to be taken 18 months after starting to train in echo.
