Fullstack Developer - Java + javascript

Role purpose

Build and improve the user-facing experiences and product APIs that underpin Data Fabric services. The role combines frontend craft with practical full-stack delivery, helping translate product needs into accessible, reliable, and secure workflows across browser and service layers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain typed TypeScript and Next.js user interfaces that are responsive, accessible, and aligned to business needs.
• Work across the stack to deliver end-to-end product features, from browser interactions and state management to backend API consumption and integration behaviour.
• Collaborate with product, UX, backend, and data teams to refine user journeys, data contracts, and acceptance criteria.
• Build and maintain secure, well-structured frontend code with clear separation of concerns, reusable components, and maintainable state patterns.
• Integrate with Java 21 Spring Boot services, understand service APIs, and help validate contract and data-shape changes.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across the stack, including UI defects, API integration problems, performance bottlenecks, and production reliability issues.
• Contribute to testing across frontend and service boundaries, including unit tests, integration tests, and regression checks.
• Support service quality through observability, logging, performance tuning, and production follow-up for the features you own.
• Help maintain engineering standards for code quality, reviews, secure coding, and deployment readiness.

Essential experience and skills

• Strong experience building user-facing web applications with TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Good understanding of modern frontend architecture, including component design, state management, routing, API integration, and accessible UI patterns.
• Experience building or supporting full-stack features across browser and service boundaries.
• Working knowledge of Java and modern Spring Boot application patterns, with the ability to contribute to backend integration work when required.
• Comfortable working with REST APIs, DTOs, authentication flows, and integration contracts.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and participate effectively in technical design and code review.
• Understanding of secure frontend and service practices, including token handling, role-based access, and safe data handling.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate production issues across UI and API layers.
• Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable experience

• React Query, Redux Toolkit, TanStack Query, or similar client-state and data-fetching patterns.
• Experience with Axios, forms, validation, and component libraries.
• Spring Web, Spring Security, or Spring Data JPA experience.
• PostgreSQL, database design, or migration patterns.
• OpenTelemetry, Micrometer, structured logging, or production monitoring tools.
• Experience working in cloud-native or containerised delivery environments.
• Exposure to test automation using JUnit 5, Vitest, Playwright, or equivalent frameworks.
