LiveEO is a Berlin company founded in 2018 that analyses satellite imagery to monitor infrastructure. Its algorithms detect vegetation encroachment, ground movement and construction risk along railways, pipelines and power lines. The company works with major European network operators and on deforestation compliance reporting.

Build the Market Leader in Satellite Analytics with us at LiveEO

LiveEO turns satellite data into business-ready risk intelligence. Using Earth observation and AI, we help businesses detect and act on critical risks across infrastructure networks and global supply chains, earlier, at scale, and with less manual effort.

You'd be joining the team behind Treeline, our vegetation management solution for utilities. Treeline shows grid operators where vegetation threatens power lines.

You'd work on a new capability within it: wildfire prevention and storm. Wildfire is about where fuel and clearance risk concentrate ahead of a season, and where mitigation crews should go first. Storm is about which parts of the network are exposed when a front is forecast, and where restoration should be prioritised afterwards. Same underlying picture of the vegetation, two very different decisions built on top of it.

Your challenge

This is an internship with real ownership. You'll take real problems from our roadmap and carry them through the full design process - framing the problem, ideating, validating solutions with customers, handing over to development and iterating on them. The people using them are utility vegetation planners and grid operations teams making decisions about where to send crews.

You'll do that with the support and mentorship of our Senior Product Designer for Treeline, who will review and guide your work throughout - a weekly 1:1, twice-weekly design reviews with design team on live work, and a structured handover in your first month of everything she knows about the product and its users. You'll have someone experienced alongside you at every stage, and increasing independence as you go. Day to day you'll sit with the wildfire and storm PM and engineer, part of the squad from week one.

This is an onsite role in Berlin. We're looking for someone who can commit to 5 days a week, 40 hours, for the full 6-month term, working in person with the squad.

We're hiring this role with the intention of making a permanent offer if it's the right fit on both sides.

What you'll do

  • Take real problems and work them through end-to-end:framing, ideation, exploration, and high-craft UI, with a senior designer reviewing and guiding along the way.

  • Understand how these customers actually work today: under real users’ needs and use that to frame the problems worth solving. Including validating your designs with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Hand over and iterate with development: working with engineers through build and release, learning how to handover to development and seeing your work live and reviewing that it’s up to spec.

  • Contribute to our design foundations: learn new processes as tools change, but not to miss out on the fundamentals that are important for our work. Being able to contribute components and patterns with proper states, variants, and documentation, built pragmatically rather than exhaustively.

  • Work fast and iteratively- prototype, test, and refine, we move quickly and can iterate as we deliver

Your profile

We're hiring for how you think and how you work, not for experience you haven't had time to accumulate yet.

  • A genuine willingness to learn, and openness, you will not know everything and receiving and applying feedback as well as picking things up quickly are key for success on our team

  • You speak up and bring ideas. We want your perspective in the room from the start, not once you've settled in.

  • Open to feedback- you take critique well, iterate fast, and treat a review as useful rather than personal.

  • Curiosity about a scientific domain.Vegetation, wildfire behaviour, and storm exposure are genuinely interesting problems, and we're looking for someone who finds them so and asks questions.

  • Strong visual craft- components, states, spacing, and typography that hold up without constant correction.

  • Systems thinking: you see patterns and reuse, not one-off screens.

  • Judgement with reference material- you adapt an established pattern with reasoning behind it, rather than reproducing it because it's there.

  • Self-direction: you take the initiative to organise and validate your own work rather than waiting to be handed a plan.

  • You raise blockers earlyand aren't afraid to ask questions. Going quiet when you're stuck is the one thing that genuinely doesn't work here.

  • Final-year or recently completed studiesin design, HCI, or an equivalent self-taught path, with at least one project involving real users, however small.

  • Fluent English, written and spoken - all documentation, critique, and collaboration run through it.

Nice to have

  • HTML/CSS to read code and communicate with the development team.

  • Curiosity about AI tools and how they fit into a design workflow.

Not required:any satellite, remote-sensing, utility, or wildfire background. We can teach the domain in six months - we can't teach curiosity about it.

Your Benefits

  • Real design ownership from week one - not a shadow internship, you'll take actual roadmap problems through to shipped features
  • Direct mentorship from our Senior Product Designer, with weekly 1:1s and twice-weekly design reviews on live work
  • A small, high-trust team where your work actually matters - you'll sit with the wildfire and storm PM and engineer as part of the squad
  • Exposure to how satellite data and AI translate into real business decisions for enterprise customers
  • BVG ticket subsidy
  • Urban Sports Membership
  • A spacious, lively office in the heart of Kreuzberg
