Senior Full Stack Engineer (f/m/x) - Government Solutions

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to lay the technical foundations of a new product within our Government team; shaping it from early prototypes to a scalable, production-ready solution. This product builds on the strengths of our existing commercial offerings, extending them into a new domain with distinct requirements (confidentiality, security) and high-impact use cases. Concretely, this is the defence and security domain: we build for governmental and armed-forces customers, with the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) among them. This is a zero-to-one role: part prototyping, part systems design, part integration engineering, all impact. You’ll work across the full product lifecycle, from rapidly building and iterating on prototypes, to integrating with existing platforms and external partners, to establishing the architecture and engineering practices that will support long-term growth.

In this role, you’ll operate at the intersection of teams and technologies, collaborating closely with internal engineering groups and external partners to bring a new product to life. You’ll have high ownership from day one, with the opportunity to turn ideas into working systems in tight, iterative cycles using a modern TypeScript and Python stack and to define the technical direction of a product from its very first lines of code.

Cross functional collaboration:

You’ll work at the intersection of multiple teams, collaborating closely with engineers and product stakeholders to translate existing capabilities into new use cases and rapidly evolving prototypes. You’ll partner with teams building core platform components and AI-driven features, ensuring seamless integrations and aligning on shared architecture, data flows, and interfaces. At the same time, you’ll engage with external partners, operating in security-sensitive and classified environments, to explore interoperability and validate solutions in real-world contexts; creating tight feedback loops between prototyping, integration, and product direction.

Tech stack & tools, which you will work with:

• TypeScript (backend and frontend)

• Python (data engineering)

• Prefect (workflow orchestration)

• AWS (cloud infrastructure)

• Geospatial stack: GDAL, Rasterio, STAC (EOdata handling and standardization)

• Datastores: PostgreSQL (metadata / operational data)

Your challenge

• Rapidly design and build end-to-end prototypes (TypeScript & Python), translating ambiguous requirements into functional, testable systems that validate product direction.

• Define and implement integrations with existing platforms and services (internal and external), ensuring clean interfaces, reliable data flows, and extensibility for future development.

• Collaborate across teams to reuse and adapt existing components, aligning on architecture, APIs, and shared standards while bridging gaps between systems.

• Take ownership of early architectural decisions (service boundaries, data models, deployment patterns), balancing speed of iteration with long-term maintainability.

• Iterate quickly based on feedback from stakeholders and partners, evolving prototypes into more robust solutions and identifying what should transition into production systems.

• Work closely with external partners to prototype integrations and validate interoperability in real-world environments.

• Establish best practices for prototyping and early-stage development (code quality, documentation, lightweight testing), creating a foundation for future engineering efforts.

• Contribute across the stack-from backend services and APIs to frontend interfaces-ensuring a cohesive and usable end-to-end experience.

Your profile

• Strong engineering fundamentals in TypeScript and Python, with a focus on writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code.

• Experience building full stack applications, including backend services, APIs, and modern frontend interfaces.

• Proven ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on products, translating ambiguous requirements into working solutions.

• Experience designing and implementing integrations between systems (APIs, data pipelines, third-party services).

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and deploying scalable services.

• Solid understanding of software architecture and system design, with the ability to make pragmatic trade-offs in early-stage environments.

• Experience working in collaborative, cross-functional environments and aligning with multiple stakeholders.

• You take ownership and proactively push work forward.

• You communicate clearly and collaborate smoothly both within and across teams.

• Pragmatic mindset: You balance deep research with practical delivery.

• You enjoy working with complexity and turning ambiguity into structure.

Nice to have:

• Experience working in early-stage or zero-to-one product environments.

• Experience with modern web frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, FastAPI, or similar).

• Understanding of data pipelines and working with data-intensive applications.

• Exposure to AI/ML-driven products and integrating model outputs into applications.

• Experience working with external partners or building interoperable systems.

• Familiarity with geospatial data or Earth observation is a plus.

• Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., code generation, copilots, agentic workflows) to accelerate prototyping and improve engineering productivity.
