Job Description Summary

The Assistant Manager, Sanctions Advisory & Decisioning, plays a key role in protecting the Bank from sanctions risk by providing expert sanctions advice, conducting risk assessments and supporting business decision making across Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) and Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB). The role acts as a trusted adviser to stakeholders, helping identify, assess and manage sanctions risks while supporting the ongoing development of a robust sanctions control environment.

HOURS:

35 hours per week, Full Time

WORKING PATTERN:

Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at one of our office sites.

We are looking for x3Assistant Sanctions Managers tojoin ourCommercial Sanctions team,whichsits within the Economic Crime Prevention function!

As an Assistant Sanctions Manager,you'llprovidespecialist sanctions advice,guidanceandindustry knowledgeto colleagues across the organisation.You'llwork closely with business, operational and oversight teams toidentify, assess and manage sanctions risksandcomplying withinternational sanctions regulations and lawswhilsthelpingtomaintaina strong and effective control environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team involved in complex sanctions decision making,sanctions screening,sanctions risk assessments,investigationsand the ongoing enhancement of sanctions controls. Depending on business needs and your experience,you'llsupport activity across our Advisory & Decisioning team or our Screening, Investigations & Governance team.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Providing specialist sanctions advice and guidance tobusiness partnersacross the Group.

  • Assessing sanctionspayments /casesandcompletingSanctions Authorisation Forms (SAFs)asrequiredin line with policy andinternational lawandregulations.

  • Conducting sanctions risk assessments relating to customers, transactions,productsand emerging risks.

  • Investigating sanctions breaches, controlissuesand regulatory concerns, helping to support effective remediation.

  • Managing sanctions referrals and technical queries from Commercial Banking and Trade Financecolleagues.

  • Supporting governance,reportingand continuous improvement activity across the sanctions control environment.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Sanctions knowledgeand policy compliance

  • Strong knowledge of sanctions regulations and sanctions risk management and experience providing sanctions advice and guidance within a regulated financial services environment.

  • Experience completing sanctions risk assessments and reviewing complex sanctions-related cases.

Decision making &risk

  • Ability to analyse complex information and make balanced, risk-based decisions.

Managing key relationships

  • Experience building effective relationships with a wide range ofbusiness partnersand providing constructive challenge where required.

Critical thinking

  • Ability to investigate issues,identifyroot causes and support practical solutions and controls.

And any experience of this would bereally useful

  • Experience supporting sanctions screening frameworks, governanceactivitiesor investigations.

  • Knowledge of trade finance,paymentsor corporate banking activities.

  • Experience handling sanctions activity or complex sanctions referrals.

  • Experience working with regulators or regulatory expectations relating to sanctions compliance.
