ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Senior Python Engineer to develop, enhance, and support these platforms and solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong technical and quantitative software development expertise, including the design and implementation of index/benchmark portfolio construction, index and benchmark analytics, systematic investment strategies, and related quantitative tools and frameworks.

Success in this role requires the ability to independently learn new technologies and business concepts, troubleshoot challenging technical issues, and deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision. The candidate should demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability, excellent collaboration and communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Develop and maintain platforms and tools supporting custom, thematic, and bespoke FICC index and benchmark solutions, with a focus on engineered products and rates.
  • Design and implement scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions using modern engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with product, research, and index teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production, data, and application issues through structured root-cause analysis.
  • Drive platform modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption and improvements to development and deployment processes.
  • Enhance software quality, automation, and operational efficiency through testing, code reviews, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Work across a diverse technology stack, including Python, Linux, cloud technologies, and legacy applications.
  • Take ownership of projects throughout the full development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation to production support.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

  • Significant hands-on software development experience (typically 7+ years), preferably in financial services or data-intensive environments.
  • Strong Python development skills and experience working in Linux-based environments, demonstrated hands-on programming experience and a solid understanding of software engineering principles.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, including system design, testing, code quality, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate and solve complex technical problems.
  • Experience developing and supporting production systems in a business-critical environment.
  • Experience working with source control and CI/CD tools (e.g., Git, GitLab).
  • Strong SQL and data processing experience.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, business domains, and data models.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to drive work independently.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience developing solutions within financial services, market data, index management, quantitative research, or investment management.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and cloud-native application architecture.
  • Proven track record of building scalable data platforms, analytics tools, or workflow automation solutions.
  • Exposure to real-time or near real-time systems, event-driven architectures, or low-latency data processing environments.
