About the Team  

Vehicle Efficiency Engineering sets and protects the mass, energy, range, and thermal-comfort performance of Lucid vehicle programs. The team combines target setting, detailed engineering analysis, models, measurements, and cross-functional issue leadership to prevent performance creep. It partners with every major vehicle system and program team from architecture through launch. Its work helps Lucid deliver class-leading efficiency without compromising performance, comfort, or capability. 

About the Role  

As a Job Level 7 Mass Engineer, you will independently own defined mass tracking, correlation, and optimization workstreams for current and future vehicle programs. Reporting to a Manager of Vehicle Efficiency Engineering, you will connect engineering-system data and physical measurements to clear forecasts, risks, and actions. In your first 12 months, success means accurate and traceable mass data, dependable prototype and manufacturing correlation, and quantified reduction opportunities adopted by engineering owners. Lucid offers a vehicle-wide role where rigorous analysis directly protects range, performance, compliance, and customer value. 

What You Own  

• Mass Data: Maintain vehicle, system, and option-level mass properties by reconciling CAD, PLM, BOM, MES, CAE, configuration, and measurement data. Integrate data from engineering systems and benchmarking databases to generate actionable insights and technical recommendations. 

• Targets and Forecasts: Own defined target and forecasting workstreams, identify variance early, and maintain clear assumptions and confidence levels. Lead mass strategy activities including target setting, forecasting, benchmarking, and optimization across vehicle programs while balancing mass, cost, performance, manufacturing constraints, and customer requirements. 

• Physical Correlation: Support prototype and manufacturing weigh events, investigate calculated-to-measured discrepancies, and drive traceable corrective actions. Lead component- and vehicle-level correlation activities to validate actual vehicle weights, improve mass accuracy, and ensure alignment between analytical and measured results. 

• Test Support: Define and document vehicle weight conditions, payload, ballast, and mass assumptions for assigned validation, certification, durability, efficiency, or performance tests. Partner with Vehicle Integration, Validation, and Test teams to support regulatory and product development activities. 

• Optimization: Analyze designs and benchmarks and develop practical mass-reduction opportunities that balance cost, performance, manufacturability, quality, and timing. Drive integrated product solutions that optimize vehicle efficiency while meeting program objectives and customer expectations. 

• Decision Tools: Build clear dashboards, analyses, automated workflows, and AI-enabled solutions that improve engineering efficiency, mass visibility, traceability, and decision-making. Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations to engineering, program, and leadership teams. 

• Technical Leadership: Influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders through data-driven communication, technical expertise, and a continuous improvement mindset while delivering results independently in a fast-paced development environment. 

What You Bring  

Minimum Qualifications  

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Automotive, Systems, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline. 

• Strong understanding of vehicle or product architectures and engineering trade-offs across mass, cost, performance, efficiency, manufacturability, quality, and customer value.  

• Proficiency with CAD tools (CATIA preferred), PLM systems, and engineering release processes.  

• Strong analytical capabilities with experience in benchmarking, forecasting, statistical analysis, and engineering decision support.  

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable recommendations.  

• Demonstrated ownership, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and the ability to successfully lead projects in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.  

• Passion for electric vehicles, lightweighting, vehicle efficiency, and next-generation mobility technologies. 

 Preferred Qualifications  

• Automotive mass properties, vehicle efficiency, homologation, or attribute engineering experience. 

• Experience with vehicle benchmarking, prototype and manufacturing weigh events, design optimization, and the full design, validation, release, and production launch process, including DVP&R development and manufacturing validation. 

• Experience with CATIA, PLM, BOM, MES, CAE, configuration management, or vehicle-program data systems. 

• Power BI, Tableau, VBA, Python, SQL, workflow automation, or AI-enabled engineering-tool experience. 

• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools, digital engineering workflows, and data-driven product development methodologies. 

 Work Requirement  

This role is fully onsite at our Newark, CA headquarters. Daily in-person presence is required.

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$117,100—$161,040 USD

Compensation& Benefits:  Lucid offers a comprehensive and competitive  benefits package  including medical, dental, and vision insurance; life and disability coverage; paid time off; paid holidays, paid sick leave; and a 401(k) retirement plan. Hourly/non-exempt employees accrue up to 120 hours paid time off, and salaried/exempt employee accrue up to 160 hours paid time off.  Eligible employees may also participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program. Incentive and equity awards, if applicable, are determined based on individual performance, role scope, market considerations, and overall company results, in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
