We are currently seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, HV Batteryas part of the product engineering organization in the plant. Our ideal candidate exhibitsa can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor, determination, & leads by example. Candidateswill be expected to demonstrateexcellence in their respective fields, to possessthe ability to leadthe team through technical & organizational challengesand to deliver impactful results in an ambiguousenvironment.
You will:
- Solve complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques
- Data driven proactive problem solving, root cause analysis & issue avoidance due to process deviations orcritical part quality issues
- Develop (from pilot to implementation) complex processes with particular focus on laser welding & associatedquality verification and failure detectionmethods into production readinesswhilemeeting associated ISO standards
- Establish technical depth to triage and troubleshoot all HV Batteryproduct& associated test spec. issues
- Provide design for manufacturability(DFM), design failure modeand effect analysis(DFMEA)& serviceability feedbackin future product development processes
- Responsible for setting up process flow & implementation of assembly drawings covering product specifications relevant to manufacturing
- Responsible for creating a one-team culture to drive product design issues to closure in future/current products with deep collaboration with cross-functional teams
- Provide guidance on build process development and improvement opportunities for high-volume production lines
- Leadproduct change managementto address known product compatibility issues for high volume productionor known product design issues in productionin close collaboration with cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- BS in Mechanical,Mechatronics,Electrical or Automotive Engineering disciplineswith 8+ years of automotive experience in design and release of vehicle systems or attributes
- Generally, requires 5+ years of related experience
- Experience in product problem solving using industry standard techniques
- Excellent in data analysis using statistics Minitabor JMP, Python, MATLAB
- Previously participatedin prototype builds or launch events
- Technical depthin HV Battery Systems(Cylindrical Cells, Battery Modules, Battery Enclosure, & Battery Pack)& associatedtroubleshooting
- Experienceinproduct development or improvementofHV Battery sub-systems
- Experience inusing DFMEA, DVP&R, PFMEA, Control Plan, DFM, & RCAwith cross-functional teams
- Exceptional communication and documentation skills are required using Atlassian products
- Requires proficiencyin Catia or 3DX, Stack up analysis (2D & 3D), SQL, & Vector tools
- Travel is requiredbetween the factory in Casa Grande, AZ and Engineering HQ in Newark, CA on as needed basis
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical or Automotive disciplines with automotive experience in design & release of vehicle systems or attributes
- Prior experience with Wire bonding, Laser welding & associated in process quality verification methodologies, and highly scalable
- Experience with CAD IN 3DEXPERIENCE
- Six Sigma Green / Black belt certification
- Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence
- Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or certification in engineering fundamentals
- Collegiate FSAE/BAJA/Similar experience is preferred
