About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.

We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what’s possible and shape the future of mobility.

About the Team

The General Assembly Manufacturing Engineering team helps Lucid launch safe, efficient, and production-ready assembly processes at scale. The team partners closely with Product Design, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Facilities, Supply Chain, and suppliers to translate vehicle requirements into capable manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and documentation. This team is unique because it works across the full process lifecycle, from early design-for-manufacturing input through prototype builds, launch execution, commissioning, and operational handoff. Team members directly influence vehicle quality, throughput, ergonomics, cost, and launch readiness in one of the most integrated areas of vehicle production.

About the Role

The Manufacturing Engineer, General Assembly is an individual contributor role within Manufacturing Engineering and reports to a Manufacturing Engineering leader. This role exists to strengthen Lucid’s ability to take vehicle programs from concept through scalable production while improving assembly quality, process capability, equipment readiness, and manufacturability. In the first 12 months, this person will own key General Assembly process-development and launch activities, including design-for-manufacturing reviews, process documentation, dimensional-control inputs, equipment readiness, issue tracking, and production handoff. Success will be measured by timely launch execution, clear closure of manufacturing risks, effective cross-functional alignment, validated process controls, and measurable improvements to quality, throughput, ergonomics, and cost. A strong candidate will gain direct ownership of high-impact launch and manufacturing decisions in an environment where engineering choices are closely connected to vehicle build quality, operator safety, and production scalability.

What You Own

  • Manufacturing Feasibility: Partner with Design Engineering to review product designs for General Assembly manufacturability and drive design-change recommendations that improve build quality, tool access, ergonomics, cycle time, and production readiness.
  • DFM Leadership: Lead detailed Design for Manufacturing reviews for product, process, tooling, and equipment concepts, and translate findings into actionable requirements, risks, and decisions for cross-functional teams.
  • Process Development: Take assigned assembly processes from concept through prototype build, validation, launch, and stable production by defining process flow, work methods, equipment needs, tooling requirements, and handoff criteria.
  • Launch Execution: Plan and execute launch activities, including prototype builds, virtual build reviews, material-flow readiness, equipment installation, commissioning, issue tracking, and risk-mitigation plans.
  • Process Controls: Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, Bills of Process, PFMEAs, quality control plans, and dimensional-control strategies that support repeatable, quality-focused production.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, error-proofing, and cost-reduction opportunities that improve throughput, quality, safety, ergonomics, and production efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Coordinate Design, Quality, Operations, Facilities, Supply Chain, Maintenance, and supplier partners to resolve open issues, evaluate make-versus-buy decisions, and keep launch and production milestones on track.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing engineering activities from prototype through launch or sustaining production.
  • Working knowledge of assembly processes, tooling, equipment, Lean Manufacturing, error proofing, PFMEA, quality control plans, or dimensional-control methods.
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements, summarize data, communicate recommendations, and support cross-functional decision-making in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%, including domestic and international travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Previous Internship experience
  • Experience in automotive General Assembly, electric vehicle manufacturing, new-product introduction, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience with CATIA or similar CAD tools, 3DEXPERIENCE, MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office, Delmia, or Proplanner.
  • Experience developing or maintaining work instructions, Bills of Process, PFMEAs, quality control plans, launch-readiness trackers, equipment documentation, or handoff packages.
  • Experience supporting virtual builds, prototype builds, equipment commissioning, make-versus-buy analysis, dimensional-control strategies, or manufacturing cost studies.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on hard surfaces in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for handling tools, reviewing components, supporting assembly processes, and interacting with equipment or fixtures.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs. as needed; heavier items may require assistance.
  • Reaching and Bending: Ability to reach, bend, twist, squat, and access equipment, fixtures, and work areas as required by process reviews and launch activities.
  • Repetitive Motions: Ability to perform repeated arm, hand, and wrist movements when supporting process validation, equipment checks, or production activities.
  • Climbing: Occasional use of steps or platforms to access different work areas or equipment levels.
  • PPE Expectations: Must wear required personal protective equipment, including safety shoes, gloves, protective sleeves, eye protection, and hearing protection, in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Communication Requirements: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position, including understanding work instructions, safety procedures, and job-related communications.
