Lumentum is an American photonics company separated from JDS Uniphase in 2015 that makes the optical components carrying data through networks and between data centre systems. Its business has been transformed by artificial intelligence build-out: the optical transceivers and laser components that connect accelerators inside a cluster are now in far shorter supply than the networking equipment they plug into. Headquartered in San Jose and listed on Nasdaq, it also supplies industrial and consumer lasers, and it acquired Cloud Light in 2023 specifically to add high-speed transceiver manufacturing capacity for cloud customers.
