Establish and grow our new Sacramento structural engineering practice as a Structural Engineering Project Manager, PE, leading building and infrastructure projects and the client relationships behind them.
You will build a new market from the ground up, supported by our established structural engineering division and the civil, survey and construction teams of Lumos & Associates.
Compensation: $140,000 to $185,000 base salary, plus annual bonus.

Structural Engineering at Lumos
In a multidisciplinary firm, structural engineering reaches well beyond buildings. Here it supports civil and transportation work through retaining walls, culverts, box structures, transit platforms, canopies and pedestrian bridges, and it extends to public works infrastructure, industrial process facilities, commercial and institutional structures, and seismic retrofits of existing and historic buildings.
The ideal candidate will possessthe following qualities and skills
- Strong technical background and a demonstratedability to apply responsible charge capacity for projects.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to clients, as well as interpersonal communication with team members and colleagues.
- High levelof creativity, organizational skills, and attention to detail, as well as a demonstrated ability to manage and oversee several tasks simultaneously.
- Strong business acumen necessary to maintainproject budgets and develop new and repeat business with existing and new clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides leadership in the development of new business and promotes repeat and referral business.
- Coordinates, oversees, and directs the project design team during the execution of projects.
- Develops, implements, and maintainsproject schedules and budgets.
- Provides coaching, mentoring, and delegating responsibility to staff.
- Provides technical review (QA/QC) of projects.
- Serves as the primary contact with clients.
- Prepares and reviews project proposals, qualification statements, and promotional materials.
- Mentors and coachesstaff to achieve optimaljob performance. Supports and encourages career development. Promotes positive employee relations and supports team building with positive and open communication.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University with an emphasis in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in relevant structural engineering consulting/project management.
- Proven expertisein developing and managing new business opportunities and client proposals.
- Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer in California; ability to obtain ProfessionalCivil Engineering license within 6 months of hire date required. Structural Engineer (S.E.), license preferred.
- Understanding ofcomputer-aided design and drafting software including Revit and AutoCAD.
- Computer proficient with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
- Self-starter and hungry to lead initiatives that will grow and expand a business’sfootprint in a dynamic, fast-paced and deadline drivenenvironment.
- Outstanding results-oriented track recordwith excellent time/project management. Ability to apply cost/benefits analysis to requested projects.
- Proven experience successfully building trust, empowering people/teams, and making cross-functional cooperation happen in a highly engaged manner.
- Prior experience in managing a staff (supervise, train, coach, develop, motivate, interview, hire, terminate) and lead by example.
- Valid driver’s license and driving record with 3 or less demerit points.
