Industrial equipment auction and liquidation experts. Maas Companies manages complex global sales to maximize asset returns. Request a consultation today.

Murrieta Valley Unified runs schools across Murrieta and the surrounding area in Riverside County. Most of the campuses were built more than thirty years ago and it shows. The District had more than 125 roof leaks in the past year alone, and a lot of the heating and air conditioning is over twenty five years old and failing in the summer heat. Classrooms, science labs, and career technology space need bringing up to date.

The work is roofs, plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning, safety systems, and classroom and lab modernization, across a lot of campuses at once. The District finished a year long facilities master planning process this year, and a $359 million bond measure goes to the voters on November 3, 2026.

You work for the District, on the owner's side, supporting a Project Manager. You are the person who keeps the paperwork and the field moving on several projects at the same time. Requests for information, submittals, shop drawings, meeting minutes, schedule updates, budget tracking, contractor payment applications, change order paperwork, inspection coordination, photos, daily reports, punch lists, and the closeout file.

Most of the construction happens in the summer, between the last day of school and the first, and the rest happens on campuses with children on them. A submittal that sits for a week in June is a classroom that is not ready in August.

The first six months is minutes, submittals, and keeping the file straight.

After that you know every campus, every contractor, every architect, and where the money is. The Project Manager knows their own jobs. You know all of them. That is who runs the program next, and this District has more work coming, not less.

Requirements

· Requests for information, submittals, and shop drawings. Logging them, routing them to the architect and engineers, tracking them, and chasing the ones that go quiet

· Meeting minutes and the project record, so there is one version of what was agreed

· Schedule updates and the three week look ahead, and flagging what is about to slip

· Budget tracking, contractor payment applications, and the paperwork behind change orders and proposed changes

· Coordinating inspections and the forms that go with them, including the Division of the State Architect, the state office that approves public school construction

· Daily reports, site photos, and the field record

· Punch list, warranty documents, operating manuals, and the closeout file

· Several projects on several campuses at once, and knowing where each one stands

What You Bring

· 2 to 5 years supporting construction projects. Owner side or construction management side is best, general contractor side counts

· A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field. Equivalent experience is considered in place of the degree

· You have handled requests for information, submittals, and change order paperwork yourself

· You can read a set of drawings and specifications and find the answer in them

· Procore or a similar system, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or Primavera, and Excel

· Clear writing. Most of this job is written, and it goes to the District, the architect, and the contractor

· You can work on a campus with children on it and follow the rules that come with that

Preferred

· K-12 school construction, and Division of the State Architect projects specifically

· Summer shutdown work, where the whole job happens between June and August

· Modernization and deferred maintenance rather than only new construction

· Roofing, heating and air conditioning, or electrical infrastructure projects

· OSHA 30, or OSHA 10

· Living in or near southwest Riverside County

Benefits

Benefits: health, dental, and vision at low cost; 401k; three weeks of PTO; and an ESOP (employee stock ownership) at no cost to you, with a 3% Safe Harbor contribution vested on day one.

Why MAAS

MAAS has spent nearly 40 years earning the trust of 50+ educational institutions across California, managing over $10B in projects. That track record means the work here is stable, funded, and consequential. You are not chasing the next contract.

As a MAAS employee, you are also an owner. The company is 100% employee-owned through an ESOP, a retirement benefit provided at no cost to you, on top of your salary. MAAS is a profitable, well-run organization and our share price has more than doubled since the plan's inception, with continued growth year over year. Your ownership stake builds the longer you stay, and ESOP participants nationally tend to accumulate 2.5x more in retirement savings than employees at non-ESOP companies.

In an industry not known for prioritizing culture, 96% of MAAS employees say it is a great place to work, and 100% say people genuinely care about each other.
