The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:

The Systems administrator is responsible for maintaining the company’s server and storage systems in compliance with Magna IT policies. All aspects of the lifecycle of hardware and software (new, upgrades, and disposal) are a main part of the duties.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Server and Server Infrastructure Management:

Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all server hardware and software.

Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of server systems.

Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

Ensure updates of all Servers are completed (Both Virtual Machine and Host Operating Systems)

Maintain Active support contracts on all server hardware

2. Storage Systems Management:

Manage all storage systems, including SAN, NAS, and other storage solutions.

Ensure data integrity, availability, and security across all storage platforms.

Maintain all updates and support contracts for Storage systems

3. Server Room Management:

Maintain the physical and environmental conditions of the server room.

Ensure proper organization, labeling, and documentation of all server room equipment.

4. Project Management:

Lead the selection, scoping, installation, and management of new server and storage projects.

Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

5. Backup and Disaster Recovery:

Develop and implement backup strategies for all servers and data.

Regularly test backup and recovery procedures to ensure data can be restored in the event of a disaster.

Maintain and update disaster recovery plans and procedures.

Perform and document annual disaster recovery testing

6. Network Administration

Administer and support all network infrastructure including wired and wireless networks, firewalls, switches, routers, and network security systems. sMonitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, maintain network documentation, and implement enhancements to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of the networking environment.

7. Database Administration and Support:

Administer, maintain, monitor, and support Microsoft SQL Server environments and related database systems.

Develop/maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for databases.

Support business applications by troubleshooting database-related issues.

Coordinate database upgrades, patching, migrations, and capacity planning activities.

Ensure database availability, performance, integrity, and security through proactive monitoring, maintenance, and optimization.

8. Policy Creation and Maintenance:

Develop and maintain departmental policies related to servers, storage, backups, and disaster recovery.

Ensure policies are up-to-date and comply with industry standards and regulations.

Educate and train staff on relevant policies and procedures.

9. And any other requirements issued by the General Manager or his designates

Requirements:

Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma School Diploma in an IT related field

2+ years of related work experience in a similar IT Support environment

CORE COMPETENECIES & SKILLS:

• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Current Microsoft Operating Systems
• Current Virtual Server Operating Systems (VMware/Hyper-V)
• Cisco Switching, Routing, and Wireless Technologies
• Microsoft SQL Server Administration
• Linux Administration Experience an asset
• Database Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Recovery
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Punctual, independent and tolerant

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This position requires occasional after-hours/weekend work for maintenance and upgrades.
• On-call availability for emergency situations.
• Physical ability to lift and move server and storage equipment as needed.

Compensation range: $75,000 -$85,000/ year
