Maintenance Supervisor - Edinburgh Hospice

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

At Marie Curie, our hospices provide expert care and support to people living with a terminal illness and their families. As our Maintenance Supervisor at Edinburgh Hospice, you will play a vital role in ensuring our facilities remain safe, welcoming, and fully operational for patients, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues.

What you will be doing:

Leading a dedicated maintenance team, you will oversee the effective maintenance of our buildings, grounds, equipment, and essential systems, ensuring that everything is maintained to the highest standards. You'll use your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to manage both planned and reactive maintenance activities, support compliance with health and safety requirements, and help deliver an excellent facilities service across the site.

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in team leadership, contractor management, and budget oversight within a maintenance or facilities environment.
• A recognised qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering to at least HNC or NVQ Level 3, or equivalent.
• IOSH accreditation (essential).
• Experience managing and maintaining Building Management Systems (BMS) and carrying out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
• A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, including fire safety management, compliance monitoring, and legionella control.
• Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
• Experience within a healthcare, hospice, or care environment would be advantageous, although this is not essential.
