SUMMARY:
The Software Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading a team of Software Engineers in the successful delivery of customer solutions while ensuring high standards of quality, technical excellence, and customer satisfaction. This role provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to the team, lead projects and resource allocation, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
The Team Lead leads project execution, supports the development of software engineers, ensures adherence to Solution Engineering standards and best practices, and acts as the primary escalation point for technical and delivery-related challenges. In addition, the Team Lead works closely with Solution Architects, Project Managers, and Solution Engineering Manager to support project planning, technical reviews, resource forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Software Engineers to achieve project, quality, and performance objectives.
- Plan, assign, and monitor team workload to ensure the timely and successful delivery of customer solutions.
- Provide technical leadership by reviewing solution designs, resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
- Lead project execution, identify and mitigate risks, and act as the primary escalation point for technical and delivery-related challenges.
- Conduct performance feedback, identify training needs, and support the professional development of team members.
- Drive continuous improvement by promoting standardization, knowledge sharing, and process optimization across the team.
- Collaborate with Solution Consultants, Project Managers, Remote Support, Solution Engineering Manager and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Support resource planning, recruitment, onboarding, and competency development to build a high-performing engineering team.
- Monitor team performance and KPI, providing regular updates and recommendations to Solution Engineering Manager.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture that supports organizational goals.
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 Years of experience in software engineering, solution implementation, or systems integration, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
- Proven experience leading software development or solution engineering teams and delivering multiple concurrent customer projects.
- Strong technical expertise in software development (VB.net, C#), system integration, relational databases, APIs, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
- Experience in project planning, resource allocation, workload management, and delivery coordination.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers through technical guidance and performance management.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Solution Consultants, Project Managers, Product Management, and Remote Support.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), engineering best practices, quality assurance, and documentation standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to manage priorities, make sound decisions, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing and supply chain automation is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS -
- The position involves approximately 10% - 25% of travel, on average, and includes domestic and international travel. This involves traveling to customer sites, possibly involving air travel.
