Join our Commercial team

Do you enjoy working with suppliers, negotiating terms and finding practical solutions to procurement challenges? At MASS, you'll have the opportunity to put your procurement experience to use in a business delivering specialist technology solutions to highly secure customers.

As our Senior Procurement and Subcontracts Officer, you'll support procurement and subcontract activities across the business, helping ensure we work with the right suppliers, secure value for money and meet project requirements.

What you'll be doing

No two procurement challenges are quite the same. You'll work across MASS, supporting the sourcing of goods and services, developing supplier relationships and ensuring subcontract arrangements meet the needs of our projects.

Working closely with project teams and suppliers, you'll support procurement activities, negotiate supplier terms, place and manage subcontracts and monitor supplier performance. You'll also help resolve supplier issues, support export control requirements, including relevant licences and documentation, and ensure our procurement systems accurately reflect supplier and subcontract information.

Where you'll work

Based at our head office in Little Paxton, St Neots, you'll report to the Head of Commercial and Procurement and work closely with colleagues and suppliers. We offer a hybrid arrangement, with three days on-site and two days working from home each week.

How you'll support us

You'll help MASS build effective supplier relationships, secure the goods and services needed to deliver our projects and manage procurement and subcontract risks. Your work will contribute to ensuring our suppliers deliver to the required standards, timescales and commercial expectations.

The invaluable experience you'll bring, to help us achieve more

You'll bring experience in a procurement, purchasing or subcontract management role, with a practical approach to problem-solving and the confidence to work with a range of stakeholders and suppliers.

Essential experience

  • Experience in a procurement, purchasing or subcontract management role.
  • Proven experience sourcing goods and services, negotiating supplier terms and managing subcontract arrangements.
  • Experience building and maintaining effective supplier relationships.
  • An understanding of business finance, including profit and loss, margins, mark-up, escalation and foreign exchange.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence and persuade others.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and promote best practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable experience

  • Understanding of export control and compliance, including UK export control requirements and ITAR.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification, ideally in Law or a business-related subject.
  • MCIPS qualification or currently studying towards it.

We'd also welcome someone who is keen to learn, develop their expertise and share knowledge with colleagues.

Our non-negotiables

Due to the highly secure nature of the projects you'll be involved with, you must be:

  • A UK National and eligible to work in the UK
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance as a minimum
