Match Group is an American technology and social media company headquartered in Dallas, Texas, founded in 2009 as a corporate entity for its various dating platforms. The company owns and operates the world's largest portfolio of online dating services, including prominent brands such as Tinder, Match.com, Hinge, Meetic, OkCupid, and PlentyOfFish. It provides these digital platforms in over 40 languages to a global user base and maintains a significant presence in the international technology market as a publicly traded corporation on the NASDAQ.

Our Mission

As humans, there are few things more exciting than meeting someone new. At Tinder, we’re inspired by the challenge of keeping the magic of human connection alive. With tens of millions of users, hundreds of millions of downloads, 2+ billion swipes per day, 20+ million matches per day, and a presence in 190+ countries, our reach is expansive-and rapidly growing.

We work together to solve complex problems. Behind the simplicity of every match, we think deeply about human relationships, behavioral science, network economics, AI and ML, online and real-world safety, cultural nuances, loneliness, love, sex, and more.

Our Values

  • Take the Lead: We don't ghost our work or each other. Just as users don't leave their matches hanging, we don't let each other down.

  • Move Fast: We have a bias for action and urgency. Something that could be done tomorrow would be better if done today.

  • Better Together: We keep connection at the heart of dating and at the heart of how we work. Just as our users are better when they connect with others, so are we when we collaborate.

  • Real Talk: We say the hard thing the human way. Just as we ask our users to behave with kindness and candor in our community, we expect Team Tinder to do the same.

  • Safety First: We act with integrity, transparency, and consistency so people feel safe-whether they're swiping, matching, or working alongside us.

  • Spark Fun: We have fun to unlock creativity, fuel innovation, and help us build better experiences for daters.

Where you’ll work:

This is a hybrid role and requires in-office collaboration in Ghent three times per week.

The Team or Role:

As a Data Scientist Intern on Tinder’s Modes team in Ghent, you’ll help build new ways for people to meet on Tinder, from group and shared experiences to new modes of using the app. You’ll work with product, engineering, and data science partners to understand how members use these experiences, define how we measure success, and turn insights into product decisions.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze how members discover, adopt, and engage with new social and group experiences.

  • Help define success metrics and funnels for new, still-evolving products.

  • Design and analyze experiments, including cases where members interact with each other and standard A/B assumptions don’t hold.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners in Data Science, Product, and Engineering to translate insights into actionable strategies.

  • Present key findings and project outcomes to Product and Leadership teams during end-of-internship demos.

  • Translate data insights into clear narratives and recommendations that inform product roadmaps and user experience improvements.

  • Size opportunities and answer product questions to inform roadmap decisions.

You’ll Need:

  • Passion for using data and experimentation to solve complex problems.

  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills for data querying and analysis.

  • Working proficiency in Python.

  • Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and experimentation.

  • Clear written communication, including explaining findings to non-technical partners.

  • Strong product sense and curiosity about how people connect socially.

  • Comfort using AI tools (e.g., LLM-based coding and analysis assistants) as a regular part of your workflow, and the judgment to check their output.

  • Currently pursuing a BS/BA, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related field.

  • Nice to have: experience with network or social data, or with experiments where members interact.
