  • Define and maintain propulsion requirements, configurations and architectures for current and future aircraft platforms
  • Work collaboratively with airframe, systems, functional engineering, manufacturing and operations teams to support successful aircraft integration
  • Manage technical relationships with engine, motor and propeller suppliers
  • Evaluate emerging propulsion technologies and contribute to the long-term powertrain strategy
  • Define propulsion development, verification and validation test strategies, including ground, endurance and flight testing in line with regulatory requirements
  • Investigate propulsion-related issues, lead root cause analysis and support reliability improvements
  • Provide lifecycle support during aircraft production and operation, including maintenance schedules, troubleshooting, design updates and engineering changes

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with aircraft propulsion systems, including engines, motors, propellers or powertrains
  • Strong understanding of powerplant integration challenges, including thermal, structural and installation considerations
  • Ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines within a complex aircraft environment
  • Experience leading the delivery of new designs within an engineering governance framework
  • Experience supporting the testing, development or operation of aircraft systems
  • Experience managing Engineering Change processes
  • Understanding of UAV or small aircraft development, with familiarity with piston engine, hybrid or electric propeller propulsion systems advantageous

Additional Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Willingness and ability to travel to EU and non-EU territories
  • Ability to obtain vetting and security clearance where required by the role, location or client

This is an excellent opportunity for a Lead Propulsion Engineer to shape the powertrain architecture of an expanding UAV fleet while contributing to the performance, efficiency and operational reliability of advanced aerospace platforms. Apply now to take on a key technical leadership role within a growing engineering team.
