Job Title: M&E Project Engineer - Hyperscale Data Centres

Location: European Hyperscale Sites (Finland, Germany, Spain, Netherlands)

Working Pattern: 10/4 Rotation (10 days on-site, 4 days off) with hybrid working from home when not required on-site

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

About Our Client

Our client is a leading specialist engineering and infrastructure solutions provider, delivering mission-critical mechanical, electrical, and water treatment solutions for complex, large-scale infrastructure projects across Europe. With an established track record in the European Hyperscale Data Centre sector, they specialise in end-to-end delivery-from offsite fabrication and modular skids to on-site installation, integration, and commissioning.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced M&E Project Engineer to oversee work packages on major hyperscale data centre projects across Finland, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands.

In this role, you will manage mechanical and electrical installations, coordinating offsite pre-fabrication, vendor management, on-site installation, quality compliance, and commissioning activities. You will work closely with main contractors, MEP sub-contractors, and internal design/manufacturing teams to ensure work packages are delivered safely, on schedule, and to exact technical specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery & Management: Oversee the technical execution of M&E packages on-site, ensuring alignment with project programmes, design intent, and client specifications.
  • Site Supervision: Manage day-to-day M&E installation, interface management with main contractors, and quality assurance/control across active European hyperscale sites.
  • Pre-Fabrication & Modular Integration: Coordinate offsite build schedules, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and seamless on-site assembly and connection of mechanical/electrical skids.
  • Commissioning Support: Assist in pre-commissioning, functional testing, and final commissioning procedures alongside specialist commissioning engineers.
  • Sub-contractor & Vendor Management: Liaise with equipment suppliers, sub-contractors, and client representatives to resolve site constraints, method statements, and risk assessments (RAMS).
  • Technical Documentation: Maintain design submittals, RFIs, technical queries, redline drawings, and handover documentation (O&M manuals).
  • HSEQ Compliance: Enforce strict health, safety, environmental, and quality standards in line with site-specific hyperscale data centre regulations.

Key Requirements

Essential:

  • Passport / Eligibility: Must hold a valid EU Passport (required for frictionless deployment across EU project sites).
  • Sector Experience: Proven track record working as an M&E / MEP Project Engineer within hyperscale data centre projects or similar mission-critical environments.
  • Rotational Commitment: Willingness to work a 10/4 rotation pattern across European site locations (Finland, Germany, Spain, Netherlands).
  • Technical Qualifications: Degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or Process Engineering.
  • Contractor Experience: Sound understanding of mechanical and electrical distribution systems, modular offsite manufacturing, and site assembly workflows.

Desirable (Nice to Have):

  • Experience with specialised process mechanical infrastructure, cooling water systems, reverse osmosis (RO), filtration, or water treatment plants on data centre campuses (water-specific experience is not required, but beneficial).

What Is Offered

  • Highly competitive salary and package.
  • Comprehensive travel, accommodation, and allowance cover for site rotations.
  • Hybrid work-from-home flexibility during non-site rotation periods.
  • Clear career progression within a rapidly expanding European data centre division.
