An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join the team! This is an opportunity to influence major manufacturing transfer programmes, work with a wide range of stakeholders, and develop expertise across both strategic and operational manufacturing activities. You'll play a key role in shaping manufacturing solutions that support business growth while advancing your own career within a dynamic and innovative engineering environment.

Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance and mustbe a British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

Working: The role offers flexible working but does require engineers on site for 3-4 days per week and is a on secure site where SC clearance is needed.

This is a role that offers the chance to play a key part in both the strategic and operational aspects of manufacturing transfer programmes. Working across the full project lifecycle, from bid generation and planning through to programme delivery, you will collaborate with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders to ensure the successful transfer of manufacturing capability.

Responsibilities:

  • Development and production manufacturing lines, translating design requirements into manufacturing instructions and processes.
  • Industrial validation activities and manufacturing architecture development.
  • Identification, investigation, and resolution of manufacturing challenges and issues.
  • Support for existing production lines and new product introductions.
  • Industrial validation activities, including FMEA development, process proving, and qualification activities.
  • Configuration control through the implementation of design changes into manufacturing documentation and validation processes.
  • Non-conformance investigations and corrective action activities.
  • Manufacturing processes that balance safety, quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Safe implementation of process changes, working closely with SHE, Human Factors, and COSHH specialists.
  • Collaboration with Design Authorities during prototype and development phases to ensure Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles are embedded.
  • Creation and maintenance of manufacturing instructions and production Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Tooling development, implementation, and control.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Significant Manufacturing Engineering experience.
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
  • The ability to work effectively to demanding project and delivery milestones.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and converting technical requirements into manufacturing build instructions.

Qualifications

You will hold either:

  • A formal Engineering or Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3, TR21, or TR23 standard, plus an HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline;

OR

  • A Degree in an Engineering-related subject.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous.
