DevOps Engineer (AWS/Hybrid Infrastructure)

We are looking for a hands-on DevOps Engineer with strong, recent AWS experience to join our infrastructure team.

You will work in a hybrid environment spanning AWS, private OpenStack clouds, OKD, virtual machines, and bare-metal Linux servers. We are primarily looking for someone coming from an AWS/Linux/automation background.

Our platform serves hundreds of thousands of requests per second across many thousands of virtual machines. We are therefore looking for someone who is already comfortable working with high-load, business-critical production systems, rather than someone whose experience has been limited to small-scale or early-stage environments.

Our dedicated platform teams operate the underlying OpenStack and OKD platforms, while your team owns and operates the workloads running on top of them. Previous OpenStack or OKD expertise is not required: you will not be responsible for building OpenStack or maintaining the OKD control plane, but you should be comfortable deploying, operating, and troubleshooting workloads running on these platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Typical tasks in this role include:

• Build and evolve AWS infrastructure with Terraform - extending existing modules and writing new ones - across compute, networking, storage, IAM, databases, and load balancing (EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, ALB/NLB, IAM);

• Provision and manage OpenStack virtual machines and the Linux services running on them, as well as workloads running on bare-metal Linux hosts;

• Deploy and operate workloads in OKD using Helm and Helmfile, including maintaining charts, values, and templates, and troubleshooting deployments;

• Build and improve GitLab CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments;

• Manage Linux systems with Ansible, including writing new roles and adapting existing ones;

• Own observability for your workloads: configure metric collection in Prometheus and VictoriaMetrics, maintain Grafana dashboards, set up and tune alerts, and work with centralized logging in ELK - collection, parsing, and helping teams find and understand issues in application and infrastructure logs;

• Work closely with Development and QA teams - supporting production systems as well as the test environments used for day-to-day development, and helping with deployments, environment configuration, infrastructure issues, and release blockers;

• Troubleshoot issues across infrastructure, networking, Linux, CI/CD, and application platforms, including problems that span multiple systems;

• Automate repetitive operational tasks and take part in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and improvements.

• Review infrastructure code and work with DevOps, Development, QA, and Platform teams on changes that cross team boundaries.

Requirements

You’ll thrive here if you have

• Has strong, recent hands-on AWS experience in large-scale, high-traffic, business-critical production systems;

• Has solid experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code;

• Has practical experience running workloads in Kubernetes-based environments and working with Helm;

• Has experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitLab CI;

• Has hands-on experience with Ansible, including writing or maintaining roles;

• Understands infrastructure networking: TCP/IP, DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls/security groups, and connectivity troubleshooting;

• Has practical experience with metrics and alerting (Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana) and centralized logging (ELK);

• Can troubleshoot complex problems independently and follow them across multiple layers of the stack;

• Is confident with Linux, virtual machines, and production infrastructure, is comfortable working outside fully managed cloud services, and understands what runs underneath the application. Comfortable using Bash, Python, or similar for automation.
