  • Own Medcan’s enterprise talent acquisition strategy and translate business priorities into proactive, integrated recruitment plans.
  • Lead workforce planning in partnership with business and HR leaders, using business growth plans, workforce data, skills requirements, and talent supply insights to forecast hiring needs, identify workforce gaps, and develop build, buy, borrow, or redeploy strategies.
  • Establish an annual and multi-year workforce planning cadence, including demand forecasts, scenario planning, critical-role analysis, and regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, hiring managers, and functional heads to ensure Medcan attracts and hires the right talent for the right roles at the right time.
  • Develop effective sourcing strategies and maintain strong pipelines for critical, high-volume, and niche roles through a robust talent database and CRM.
  • Lead Medcan’s Hot Skills talent strategy, participate in the committee, and deliver the related talent acquisition plans.
  • Lead New Graduate, Co-op, and campus recruitment strategies, including programs for medical professional groups.
  • Personally lead recruitment for senior-level and Director+ roles, as required.
  • Set clear KPIs and service expectations, and use recruitment, sourcing, workforce, hiring manager, and new-hire data to measure performance and continuously improve outcomes.
  • Stay current on Canadian and global labour-market, technology, workforce, sourcing, and recruitment trends, and apply relevant insights to Medcan’s talent strategy.
  • Partner with Marketing to strengthen Medcan’s employer brand and social media presence through relevant content and engagement.
  • Select and manage external recruitment vendors, ensuring quality, value, and performance.
  • Partner with HR peers and business leaders to design and deliver innovative talent initiatives that support current and future workforce needs.
  • Conduct regular team check-ins, remove roadblocks, set clear goals, provide coaching and mentoring, and lead performance reviews.

What You’ll Need

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive talent acquisition experience, including responsibility for talent strategy, workforce planning, and recruitment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise workforce planning, including demand forecasting, scenario planning, skills-gap analysis, and translating business plans into workforce and hiring strategies.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience leading and developing a team of recruiters or talent acquisition professionals.
  • Proven ability to advise senior executives and build trusted relationships with business and HR leaders.
  • Experience recruiting for medical staffing roles is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with senior-level or executive recruitment.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to interpret workforce and recruitment data, identify insights, and present clear recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated coaching, leadership, mentoring, client engagement, and internal consulting capabilities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Sound analytical, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues and create clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, changing deadlines, and special projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, respect for confidentiality, and appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Experience with global hiring and immigration processes is an asset.
  • Experience with campus recruitment is an asset.
