At Medibank, we're investing in the future of our data platforms and capabilities. As part of a significant multi-year data transformation program, we're looking for an experienced Data Solution Architect with strong Databricks platform enablement experience to help shape and establish the foundations of our next-generation data ecosystem. This role will kick off as an intial 12-month daily rate contract, with a rate of up to $1200 per day.

This is a hands-on architecture role where you'll partner closely with engineering, platform and delivery teams to design, implement and evolve a modern Databricks-based data platform that supports scalable, governed and reusable data products.

About the role

This isn't a strategy-only architecture position. We're looking for someone who has recently been involved in standing up or significantly evolving a Databricks platform, understands the challenges of implementing modern data capabilities in large enterprises, and can bridge architecture, platform and engineering teams to deliver practical outcomes.

You'll play a key role in helping Medibank mature towards a data product operating model, establishing platform patterns, governance controls and engineering frameworks that enable teams to confidently build and consume trusted data.

What you'll be doing

• Designing Medibank's Databricks-based data platform architecture.
• Defining architecture patterns across data ingestion, transformation, storage, sharing and consumption.
• Driving platform enablement activities including cloud infrastructure, connectivity, security and governance foundations.
• Working closely with data engineers, platform teams, security, cloud and delivery stakeholders to implement scalable solutions.
• Establishing data architecture principles, modelling standards, governance patterns and engineering frameworks.
• Supporting the development of data products that are secure, reusable and fit for enterprise scale.
• Contributing to architecture roadmaps, reference patterns and best practices across the broader data landscape.
• Providing architectural guidance across data, analytics and AI initiatives.

What you'll bring

We're particularly interested in people who have recent experience implementing or modernising a Databricks environment within a large enterprise.

You'll likely bring:

• Significant experience in Data Architecture, Solution Architecture or Senior Data Engineering roles.
• Recent hands-on experience implementing or enabling a Databricks platform.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture patterns.
• Experience with data modelling, governance frameworks and platform standards.
• Experience working across infrastructure, networking, security and platform engineering teams.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to operate in complex, enterprise-scale environments.
