Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Philipp Niethammer Lab as a Research Technician!
The Niethammer lab studies how cells sense physical stress and tissue injury-and how they communicate with immune cells to coordinate healing. We investigate these questions using zebrafish, human cells, microscopy, genetics, and molecular biology.
Role Overview:
- Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
- Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as CRISPR screening, flow cytometry, sterile mammalian tissue culture, cellular transfection (lipofectamine), molecular protein design and engineering, fluorescent Imaging, paraffin tissue processing & embedding.
- Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including injections, tissue/fluids collection, and animal autopsies, euthanasia, animal-handling and nursery.
- Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
- Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology/life sciences.
- Experience with tissue culture and molecular biology techniques.
- Comfort working with zebrafish larvae or adult specimens, including monitoring, behavioral scoring, genotyping, and tailfin amputation.
