Project Title

AI-Enabled Manufacturing Analytics and Productivity Automation

Project Description

The intern will undertake a structured project that applies Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, data analytics, and automation technologies to selected opportunities within New Product Manufacturing.

Under the guidance of experienced engineers and business stakeholders, the intern will evaluate defined processes where AI-Enabled solutions may reduce manual effort, improve data visibility, automate reporting, and generate actionable insights from manufacturing and operational data.

The project may involve automated work-in-process reporting, lot-prioritization analysis, intelligent dashboards, or productivity automation. The intern will gain practical experience using approved tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, Python, and Structured Query Language.

Objective of the Project

• Develop an understanding of New Product Manufacturing processes, data sources, and operational challenges.
• Identify a defined opportunity where AI, Generative AI, data analytics, or automation may improve productivity and data visibility.
• Design and develop an AI-Enabled proof of concept for the selected use case.
• Evaluate the solution’s potential impact and document recommendations for future development.

Project Scope

• Evaluate selected New Product Manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for AI-Enabled analytics or workflow automation.
• Define the requirements, data inputs, business rules, and intended outcomes for the assigned use case.
• Develop a proof of concept involving intelligent data processing, dashboard development, reporting automation, or AI-Assisted decision workflows.
• Create visualizations for selected operational metrics, work-in-process visibility, risk monitoring, alerts, or trend analysis.
• Measure the prototype’s potential productivity, efficiency, and decision-making benefits using agreed project indicators.

• Gain exposure to New Product Manufacturing processes, operational data, and digital-transformation initiatives.
• Develop practical experience with Generative AI, prompt engineering, data analytics, dashboard design, and workflow automation.
• Learn how to translate business requirements into a structured AI-Enabled solution.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, automation, data, and business stakeholders.

Deliverables

• An AI opportunity assessment covering the current process, proposed use case, expected benefits, and recommended implementation roadmap.
• A functional proof of concept for the selected AI-Enabled analytics or automation use case.
• An interactive dashboard or productivity tool that demonstrates relevant metrics, insights, notifications, or reporting automation.
• Technical documentation, a user guide, a business-impact assessment, and a final presentation.

Impact of the Project

• Improve visibility into selected New Product Manufacturing processes and operational metrics.
• Reduce manual data processing or reporting effort within the defined project use case.
• Demonstrate how AI-Enabled insights and automation may improve productivity and decision-making.
• Provide a documented foundation for future digital-transformation initiatives.

Skillsets Required

• Basic understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, prompt engineering, and AI-Enabled workflows.
• Experience with data analytics, data visualization, Python programming, or Structured Query Language.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Power Automate, Power Apps, or SharePoint.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently with guidance and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Generative AI, Machine Learning, chatbot, dashboard, or process-automation projects.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot or an equivalent approved AI Assistant.
• Exposure to manufacturing, semiconductor, operational analytics, or digital-transformation projects.
• Participation in hackathons, analytics projects, or AI competitions is advantageous.

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related discipline.

Duration of Period

The ideal candidate should be able to commit to a full-time internship period ofat least 5 months.
