Construction Project Manager

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) is the engine that powers our cloud services. As a CO+I Construction Project Manager you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. You will work with data centre architects, engineers, construction managers, network engineers, data centre operations teams and finance teams to streamline and improve data centre capacity delivery. You will execute against scope, schedule, and budget to deliver the latest generation of data centre technology to Microsoft’s Online Services. You will be responsible for ensuring the project is commissioned in accordance with Microsoft's standards and directly manage the process for projects in EMEA Region.

Responsibilities

• Support End-to-End Project Delivery: Support the successful delivery of hyperscale data centre construction projects from enabling works through construction, commissioning and handover. Track milestones, actions and deliverables to help achieve project scope, schedule, cost and quality objectives.
• Champion Safety, Quality and Compliance: Promote a safety-first, security-first and quality-focused culture on site. Support inspections, audits and incident reviews while ensuring compliance with Microsoft standards, project requirements and local regulations.
• Coordinate Construction Activities and Stakeholders: Act as a key point of coordination between contractors, consultants, vendors and internal teams. Facilitate communication, resolve interface issues and help maintain alignment across all project workstreams.
• Drive Planning, Reporting and Project Controls: Maintain project records, monitor progress against key milestones and support the preparation of reports, dashboards and performance metrics covering schedule, cost, safety, quality and risks.
• Manage Risks, Issues and Change: Track project risks, issues, decisions and actions. Support change management processes by assessing impacts, documenting potential schedule and cost implications, and coordinating timely resolution.
• Provide Technical and Constructability Support: Review drawings, specifications, method statements and technical submittals with engineering and construction teams. Identify potential constructability issues, technical risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Support Commercial and Vendor Management Activities: Assist with contractor and vendor management, including scope reviews, change orders, project controls documentation, procurement support, forecasting and performance monitoring.
• Deliver Continuous Improvement Through Data and Insights: Use project data, dashboards and site observations to identify trends, improve predictability and strengthen project delivery performance. Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement across the program.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Relevant technical engineering experience or any of the followingOR bachelor's OR master’s degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, reliability engineering, electrical engineering or related field
• Experience in Data Center facility maintenance, operation, construction and/or commissioning
• Considerable experience with Mechanical OR Electrical Test Equipment
• Solid proficiency in written, spoken and technical English, as all business operations and stakeholder communications are conducted in English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Commissioning Certification
• OSHA 10 or higher qualification
• NFPA-70E

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Finland is € 87,000.00 - € 143,200.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.

Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across Finland is € 63,800.00 - € 118,800.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
