Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Project Manager, you will lead and manage the end-to-end delivery of large-scale datacenter IT infrastructure projects supporting the build-out, onboarding, and operationalization of new datacenter capacity in Thailand.

The primary focus of this role is IT project management, including large-scale server deployment, network infrastructure implementation, datacenter rack and enclosure deployment, structured copper and fiber-optic cabling, storage and physical IT infrastructure, technology refreshes, capacity expansion, migrations, and decommissioning.

You will create, manage, and communicate end-to-end project plans and be accountable for delivering assigned projects safely, securely, on time, within approved scope and budget, and in accordance with Microsoft quality and compliance requirements.

You will also coordinate planned project execution and preventive maintenance activities within live IT production environments. You will ensure that appropriate risk controls, mitigation measures, contingency plans, and rollback or recovery arrangements are established to prevent or minimize service interruption.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Datacenter Operations, Deployment, Network, Critical Environment, Security, Logistics, Supply Chain, Asset Management, and regional infrastructure teams. You will also coordinate with suppliers, service partners, contractors, landlords, and colocation providers to identify dependencies, manage risks, remove delivery obstacles, and successfully transition completed projects into operations.

This position requires full-time onsite work in Chonburi, Thailand.

Responsibilities

End-to-End IT Project Delivery

  • Create, manage, and communicate end-to-end project plans for large-scale datacenter IT infrastructure projects.

  • Manage project scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, changes, quality requirements, acceptance criteria, and closure.

  • Deliver projects involving:

  • Large-scale server deployment

  • Enterprise and datacenter network infrastructure implementation

  • Datacenter racks and enclosures

  • Storage and physical IT infrastructure

  • Structured copper and fiber-optic cabling

  • Capacity expansion and infrastructure upgrades

  • Equipment migrations and technology refreshes

  • Infrastructure and equipment decommissioning

  • Conduct regular project reviews and check-ins to monitor progress, delivery quality, risks, issues, dependencies, and required actions.

  • Identify project gaps and obstacles, establish mitigation or recovery actions, and escalate through the appropriate channels when required.

  • Ensure projects are completed safely, securely, on time, within approved scope and budget, and with the required level of quality.

  • Maintain accurate project plans, schedules, risk and issue registers, decision logs, change records, status reports, acceptance evidence, and closure documentation.

  • Ensure completed projects meet agreed acceptance criteria and are successfully handed over to the responsible operations teams.

Technical and Operational Coordination

  • Translate technical and business requirements into executable project plans, work packages, resource requirements, milestones, and acceptance criteria.

  • Coordinate planned activities, including project execution, infrastructure deployment, upgrades, migrations, technology refreshes, testing, and preventive maintenance affecting datacenter IT systems and infrastructure.

  • Develop and validate implementation plans, Methods of Procedure, risk assessments, maintenance windows, technical dependencies, communication plans, contingency measures, and rollback or recovery arrangements before execution.

  • Coordinate technical dependencies involving servers, storage, network equipment, racks, structured cabling, fiber-optic infrastructure, logistics, assets, power, cooling, security, access, and operational readiness.

  • Work with Engineering, Datacenter Operations, Deployment, Network, Critical Environment, Security, Logistics, Supply Chain, Asset Management, DC Build Managers, and regional infrastructure teams to assess potential impacts on the IT production environment.

  • Ensure appropriate mitigation and operational controls are established to prevent or minimize:

  • Service interruption

  • Equipment impact

  • Capacity constraints

  • Availability risks

  • Other adverse impacts on the IT production environment

  • Confirm that required resources, approvals, access, tools, materials, technical support, escalation paths, and recovery arrangements are available before planned work begins.

  • Coordinate implementation activities within live, production, or mission-critical datacenter environments and monitor execution against the approved plan.

  • Ensure project and preventive maintenance activities follow approved designs, Methods of Procedure, change controls, safety requirements, security controls, quality standards, and operational requirements.

  • Apply Stop Work Authority and escalate when site conditions, technical dependencies, safety controls, or execution activities deviate from the approved plan or create unacceptable risk to production services.

  • Ensure post-implementation validation, service-health checks, issue resolution, operational handover, documentation, and formal closure are completed.

Stakeholder, Supplier, and Risk Management

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, internal stakeholders, suppliers, service partners, contractors, landlords, and colocation providers.

  • Clarify and document stakeholder expectations, project responsibilities, technical dependencies, decisions, and completion criteria.

  • Manage supplier and contractor scope, schedules, deliverables, resources, quality, safety, documentation, and corrective actions.

  • Proactively identify project risks, gaps, conflicts, and potential customer or operational impacts, and communicate them to the appropriate stakeholders.

  • Escalate material risks, schedule delays, resource constraints, unresolved dependencies, and quality concerns to remove obstacles and protect project outcomes.

  • Provide clear and timely project updates covering:

  • Project status and achievements

  • Upcoming milestones

  • Schedule and budget

  • Risks and issues

  • Decisions and dependencies

  • Required actions and support

  • Drive project actions to closure with clear ownership, target dates, and documented outcomes.

Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement

  • Promote a culture of safety, security, quality, and compliance throughout project planning and execution.

  • Follow Microsoft, customer, regulatory, and site-specific safety and security requirements and immediately report concerns.

  • Ensure appropriate risk assessments, work controls, change approvals, implementation plans, testing requirements, and rollback or recovery arrangements are established before execution.

  • Support troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause analysis, recovery planning, and corrective actions associated with project activities.

  • Conduct or support project quality reviews, post-implementation reviews, and lessons-learned sessions.

  • Capture lessons learned, effective practices, and project feedback to improve processes, procedures, tools, efficiency, quality, and productivity.

  • Embody Microsoft’s culture and values and deliver success by bringing clarity, generating energy, and driving accountable execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Telecommunications, Project Management, or a related technical discipline.

  • 8+ years of relevant industry experience, including demonstrated direct experience managing and successfully delivering large-scale or complex IT system and infrastructure projects.

  • Demonstrated project-delivery experience involving one or more of the following:

  • Large-scale datacenter server deployment

  • Enterprise or datacenter network infrastructure implementation

  • Datacenter rack, enclosure, and physical IT infrastructure deployment

  • Structured copper and fiber-optic cabling implementation

  • Enterprise computing, storage, or cloud-infrastructure deployment

  • IT infrastructure expansion, migration, consolidation, or technology refresh

  • Infrastructure and equipment decommissioning

  • Datacenter capacity onboarding and operationalization

  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end project scope, schedules, milestones, budgets, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, changes, quality, acceptance, operational handover, and closure.

  • Strong working knowledge of physical IT infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, network equipment, racks and enclosures, capacity, structured cabling, fiber-optic infrastructure, and related datacenter systems.

  • Demonstrated experience planning and managing project execution, infrastructure changes, and preventive maintenance activities within live IT production or mission-critical environments.

  • Experience establishing risk assessments, change controls, impact-mitigation plans, contingency measures, and rollback or recovery arrangements to prevent or minimize service interruption.

  • Experience coordinating delivery across technical teams, operations teams, suppliers, service partners, contractors, and regional or global stakeholders.

  • Ability to prioritize and execute project activities in dynamic, high-pressure, production, mission-critical, or 24x7 datacenter environments.

  • Strong stakeholder-management, supplier-management, problem-solving, escalation, and decision-making skills.

  • Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to lead project discussions, prepare clear project reports, and communicate effectively with local, regional, and global stakeholders.

  • Ability and willingness to work full-time onsite in Chonburi, Thailand.

  • Ability to support critical implementation activities, maintenance windows, incidents, and project escalations outside standard business hours when required.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security-screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering hyperscale datacenter, cloud infrastructure, enterprise IT, telecommunications, or other mission-critical technology projects.

  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects or a portfolio of related IT infrastructure projects.

  • Experience with Microsoft datacenter processes and tools or comparable project-delivery processes and systems.

  • Experience managing system integrators, installation contractors, telecommunications providers, equipment suppliers, or outsourced delivery partners.
