Overview

Microsoft Silicon, Cloud Hardware, and Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. SCHIE delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally with our server and data center infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability solutions. Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide and we are looking for engineers to help achieve that mission.

Our mission is to make enterprise-scale AI easier to adopt by giving teams the platforms, guidance, governance, and foundational capabilities they need to build secure, responsible, and scalable solutions. We work across Silicon and Systems engineering teams as both a strategic partner and enabler, bringing together customer needs, technology, data, and AI best practices. In this Principal Technical Program Manager role, you will help shape priorities and drive cross-organization Silicon and Systems programs that turn these capabilities into meaningful business impact.

A Principal Technical Program Manager in our SPACE TPMO team will help establish SPACE as a trusted AI partner and enabler for SCHIE, driving Silicon, platforms, governance, best practices, and cross-domain capabilities needed to deliver secure, responsible AI at enterprise scale as integral part of Silicon and Systems Development in support of the Azure Fleet objectives.

Responsibilities

  • The position entails collaborating with Silicon, Firmware, System and Software Engineering teams at SCHIE to comprehend their requirements for data analytics, AI/ML applications, and internal tools, with a focus on enhancing daily operations efficiency and scalability.

  • Lead multiple, interdependent, cross-organizational programs, operating with significant ambiguity and owning outcomes that directly impact SCHIE strategy and execution.

  • Drive cross-functional programs that integrate AI capabilities into silicon development workflows, spanning areas such as architecture, design, verification, validation, and silicon bring-up.

  • Define and influence product, platform, and organizational strategy, driving innovation and establishing scalable processes and standards adopted across SCHIE.

  • Leverage AI tools to create professional reports, dashboards, program collateral, and other artifacts that improve the tracking, facilitation, and communication of program objectives, deliverables, risks, and outcomes.
  • Mentor and sponsor senior TPMs, set quality bars for program management, and raise the standard of TPM execution across the organization.

  • Own end-to-end governance, risk management, and delivery for mission-critical initiatives, creating mechanisms that enable predictable execution at scale.

  • Represent SCHIE internally and externally, shaping strategy and culture.

  • Serve as a trusted partner to senior and executive leaders, driving alignment on priorities, trade-offs, and long-term investments across organizations.

  • Establish repeatable operating models, metrics, and decision frameworks that improve execution efficiency and enable SCHIE teams to scale effectively over time.

  • Ensure program objectives are understood and met, adapting plans as needed.

  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and Microsoft values in all aspects of program leadership.

  • Conduct thorough analysis of business and technical requirements, collaborating with stakeholders to prioritize and align with program goals.

  • Working alongside the Software engineering team, you will be responsible for co-developing the technical strategy and predictable program roadmap for internal customers.

  • Act as a liaison for clarifying requirements and facilitating communication between stakeholders and development teams.

  • Coordinate end-to-end project schedules, including semester plans, milestones, timelines, and releases, ensuring adherence to established processes.

  • Interact with business users to triage, prioritize, and address feedback within your domain.

  • Define success criteria and foster relationships for implementing features in complex cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment across organizations.
