About the job

Mistral is hiring a Head of FDE Learning Programs to build the learning system for one of the company’s fastest-growing organizations. Mistral is scaling its FDE organization from its first hire to several hundred Deployment Strategists and Applied AI Engineers within two years. Your mandate is to make capability grow as fast as headcount without lowering the bar for customer work.

You will own:

• Learning content: Build practical learning across three areas: technical skills, strategic and business capabilities, and product enablement.

• Onboarding: Build a clear path from a new hire’s first week to independent customer work.

• Technical bootcamps: Turn new products, research, and field methods into practical training for customer work.

• Strategic bootcamps: Empower client-facing teams of FDEs to drive business and strategic discussions and to set up for success large partnership programs with customers

• Program ownership: Own the roadmap, curriculum, contributor model, regional delivery, tools, measurement, and central team.

• Scaling: Launch useful programs now, then adapt them for larger cohorts without making the content generic or relying on a small group of experts.

• Team building: Launch the first programs, build a network of instructors, and hire the team needed to support several hundred FDEs.

• Cross-functional work: Work with functional managers, Product, Engineering, Science, People, GTM Enablement, DevRel, and regional leaders.

• Readiness standards: Ensure FDEs in every region meet the same standard, can find current material, learn from recent customer work, and understand expectations at the next career level.

• Knowledge structuration: Ensure internal resources are up to date and pushed to the right stakeholders with a knowledge management approach.

About you

You have helped build a learning, enablement, or capability function for a technical organization during rapid growth. You can start as the first dedicated owner, deliver useful programs immediately, and build the team and operating model needed to serve several hundred people.

• You are technically fluent enough to work credibly with AI engineers, Product, and Science, inspect the substance of a program, and challenge material that is unclear or outdated.

• You have designed programs that work across cohorts, regions, and experience levels without reducing the content to generic training.

• You can lead work across senior stakeholders, subject-matter experts, managers, and operational partners without relying on reporting lines.

• You can make firm trade-offs when hiring demand, expert capacity, and program quality compete for attention.

• You pay attention to the full learner experience, including communications, scheduling, practice, feedback, and manager follow-through.

• You use evidence to decide which programs to expand, revise, or stop.

• You communicate clearly with executives, managers, technical experts, and learners.

• You are fluent in English and can work with teams across regions and time zones.

Ideally, you have

• Scaled a one-person or small learning function into a team and program that served hundreds of technical employees.

• Built onboarding that kept pace with rapid hiring in an engineering, FDE, solutions, consulting, or professional-services organization.

• Designed and operated technical bootcamps or other cohort-based learning programs.

• Worked in technical DevRel, developer education, or a related role built around demos, code examples, workshops, and practitioner communities.

• Built role- and level-based curricula connected to skills frameworks or career progression.

• Managed a global program with contributors and learners across multiple regions.

• Worked closely with Product, Engineering, Science, People, and customer-facing teams.

• Designed practical assessments, readiness standards, or certification where appropriate.

• Used learning platforms, knowledge systems, AI coaches, or program-operations tooling.

• Worked in AI/ML or another technically complex and fast-changing field.

Why this role matters

Mistral is compressing years of organization growth into two. An FDE organization of several hundred people cannot depend on manager-by-manager onboarding, one-off sessions, and informal access to experts. If learning capacity trails hiring, ramp times would lengthen, standards would diverge, and teams would repeat the same mistakes across regions.

This role will build the programs, teaching network, and systems at the same pace as the organization. Two years from now, success would mean several hundred Deployment Strategists and Applied AI Engineers working from shared standards, learning new capabilities quickly, and improving the system with evidence from customer work.
