Position Summary:

Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, automation, security, optimization, and operational support of Mohegan's hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure. The role supports Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, and other approved enterprise cloud technologies while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, compliance, resiliency, and business objectives.

This position partners with infrastructure, security, application development, and business teams to deliver secure, scalable, highly available cloud services. Cloud Engineer serves as a senior technical contributor in cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, platform engineering, disaster recovery, observability, and cloud financial management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Cloud Architecture and Engineering

• Design, implement, and support enterprise cloud infrastructure across Azure, Microsoft 365, AWS, Google and hybrid environments.
• Develop cloud reference architectures, reusable patterns, standards, and guardrails aligned with enterprise architecture principles.
• Design solutions that meet requirements for scalability, availability, performance, security, compliance, and resiliency.
• Evaluate and recommend cloud-native technologies and services that support business and technology objectives.

Cloud Automation and Platform Engineering

• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, monitoring, compliance validation, and operational workflows.
• Support platform engineering and self-service capabilities through standardized, secure deployment patterns.
• Develop automation using PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure Automation, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or equivalent tools.

DevSecOps and Continuous Delivery

• Support CI/CD pipeline design, implementation, governance, and optimization.
• Integrate security controls, automated testing, policy-as-code, and infrastructure validation into delivery pipelines.
• Partner with development teams to enable secure cloud-native deployment and operational practices.

Security, Governance, and Compliance

• Implement cloud security controls using Zero Trust, least privilege, defense-in-depth, and secure-by-design principles.
• Collaborate with Information Security to improve cloud security posture and remediate vulnerabilities and misconfigurations.
• Support identity governance, privileged access management, secrets management, encryption, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with audits and control activities, including SOX, gaming regulatory, privacy, and internal security requirements.

Cloud Operations and Reliability

• Monitor cloud services to ensure availability, performance, capacity, service-level objectives, and reliability.
• Develop dashboards, telemetry, logging, tracing, proactive alerting, and automated remediation capabilities.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for recurring incidents.
• Participate in incident response, major incident management, and an on-call rotation for supported services.

Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery

• Design, maintain, and test cloud backup, high-availability, cyber-recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Validate that critical services meet approved recovery time and recovery point objectives.
• Maintain recovery runbooks and participate in scheduled recovery exercises and after-action reviews.

FinOps and Cost Optimization

• Monitor and optimize cloud usage, commitments, licensing, storage, compute, and data transfer costs.
• Implement tagging, budgeting, forecasting, showback or chargeback, and cost-allocation standards.
• Partner with technology and business leaders to align cloud consumption with organizational priorities.

Documentation and Knowledge Sharing

• Maintain architecture diagrams, technical standards, configuration documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge articles.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and cross-training to reduce key-person dependencies and improve team resiliency.
• Present technical recommendations, risks, roadmaps, and investment requirements to management and governance forums.

AI-Enabled Operations and Innovation

• Evaluate and responsibly use AI-assisted tools to improve engineering productivity, observability, incident response, and service delivery.
• Ensure AI-enabled solutions comply with enterprise security, privacy, data governance, and responsible AI requirements.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain confidentiality and privacy in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, contractual requirements, and company policies.
• Participate in and comply with Change, Incident, Problem, Configuration, Release, and Asset Management processes.
• Promote superior customer service and effective collaboration with internal teams, properties, vendors, and business partners.
• Actively pursue opportunities to improve knowledge, tools, standards, automation, and operational processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise cloud or hybrid infrastructure; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 enterprise environments.
• Experience with AWS, additional public cloud platforms, or complex hybrid-cloud architectures is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, scripting, source control, and CI/CD practices.
• Experience with cloud monitoring, observability, backup, disaster recovery, high availability, and incident response.
• Strong understanding of identity, security, networking, and internet protocols, including Entra ID, DNS, TCP/IP, routing, VPN, firewalls, load balancing, HTTP/S, and Zero Trust concepts.
• Ability to analyze complex technical information, troubleshoot multifaceted issues, communicate recommendations clearly, and work effectively across technical and business teams.
• Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office Suite products and applications
• Ability to obtain and maintain gaming licensure in one or more jurisdictions, as required.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and perform occasional off-hours work for changes, maintenance, incidents, and recovery testing.

Preferred Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, HashiCorp Terraform Associate, or equivalent cloud and automation certification.
• ITIL Foundation, CCSP, CISSP, or equivalent cloud governance, service management, or security certification.

• Ability to balance strategic architecture with hands-on engineering and operational accountability.

Training Requirements:

• Appropriate Mohegan regulations
• Knowledge of Mohegan corporate and department policies and procedures
• Project management process and methodology
• Mohegan technical architecture and standards

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Office work environment
• Must be able to sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
• Requires occasional off-shift work, including late night and early morning hours
