MongoDB is an American database company founded in 2007 that built a document-oriented database storing records as flexible JSON-like structures rather than fixed relational tables. Its main commercial product is Atlas, a managed service running the database across the major public clouds with search, vector search, streaming and analytics layered on top, which now supplies the majority of company revenue. Headquartered in New York and listed on Nasdaq, it acquired the embedding model company Voyage AI in 2025 to strengthen its position in retrieval for artificial intelligence applications, and its database remains among the most widely used outside the relational world.

The MongoDB Documentation team is a group of writers and engineers who develop and maintain the documentation for the MongoDB product family. Our goal is to help our readers, both humans and AI, successfully use MongoDB products by providing outstanding documentation. The MongoDB Documentation team is a part of the MongoDB Core Product organization and is tightly integrated with the engineering teams responsible for each product. We are hiring a Manager Technical Writer to guide the creation of world-class documentation for the MongoDB data platform.

You will use your leadership skills to manage and grow a talented team of writers, prioritize and plan documentation projects, and influence the strategic vision for the MongoDB docs. Your AI-forward mindset coupled with strong writing and technical skills will guide production of clear reference docs and tutorials on high-complexity features. Your team’s work, along with the other two MongoDB Docs teams, support AI agents, answer engines, and a large global community of new and experienced MongoDB users.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Gurgaon for our hybrid working model.

Position Expectations

  • Lead a technical writing team with opportunity for team growth
  • Integrate with a highly collaborative, globally distributed group of documentation leaders to build a strong cross-functional documentation team
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Design, Developer Relations, and Product Marketing to ensure the documentation meets the needs of our users
