Job Title:

EDM Setter / Operator

Reporting To:

Cell Leader (Machinist)

Work Schedule:

Onsite - Tewkesbury, GBR

At Moog, we design and manufacture precision motion control systems used on some of the world's most advanced commercial and military aircraft. Our products perform critical functions in flight control, engine control, and mission-critical aerospace applications where quality, precision, and reliability are paramount.

We're seeking a skilled EDM Setter / Operator to join our manufacturing team in Tewkesbury. Working within a high-performing production cell, you'll manufacture complex aerospace components using advanced EDM technology, including GF Agie Charmilles CUT P 350, CUT X 350 and FORM P 350 machines, supported by Mikron MILL S 200 U technology.

This is more than a machine operating role. You'll be trusted to take ownership of quality, solve technical challenges, support continuous improvement initiatives, and manufacture critical components that directly support aerospace and defence applications. You'll work alongside skilled engineers and machinists in a collaborative environment where precision, craftsmanship, and innovation are valued every day.

Whether you're an experienced EDM specialist or a machinist with transferable precision manufacturing experience looking to develop your skills further, we'd love to hear from you.

To be considered for EDM Setter / Operator, here’s what you’ll typically bring with you:

  • Experience setting and operating EDM machinery, or a strong background in precision machining and manufacturing.
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
  • The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Inspection and measurement experience using a range of metrology equipment.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude towards learning new equipment, processes and techniques.

It’s preferred if you bring:

  • Experience with Wire EDM, Spark Erosion, or Form EDM processes.
  • A recognised engineering apprenticeship or engineering qualification.
  • Experience within aerospace, defence, automotive, medical, or other precision manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience operating GF Agie Charmilles equipment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S and continuous improvement tools.

As EDM Setter / Operator, you will:

  • Set and operate Wire and Form EDM machines to manufacture precision aerospace components.
  • Produce components to exacting quality standards and extremely tight tolerances.
  • Work from engineering drawings, manufacturing specifications, inspection plans and shop documentation.
  • Inspect components using a variety of manual and automated metrology equipment to verify dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Carry out self-inspection activities and quality audits to achieve and maintain self-certification approval.
  • Accurately record production and inspection data in accordance with company procedures.
  • Identify and help resolve manufacturing challenges, supporting problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S and standard work practices, to maintain an efficient and organised work area.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality personnel and manufacturing colleagues to achieve production, quality and delivery objectives.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and machine care activities to support equipment reliability and performance.
  • Support initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity and on-time delivery.
