Onsite - Buffalo, NYMoog Space and Defense Group is recruiting for a Senior Quality Technician to join the team in East Aurora. The Senior Quality Technician will focus on root cause analysis, process capability, and corrective action effectiveness. This role is critical in driving the reduction of scrap and rework through deep technical expertise in machining processes, GD&T, and inspection techniques. The successful candidate will lead investigations into chronic scrap sources, collaborate closely with production teams, and develop practical quality improvement solutions to enhance manufacturing performance.
To be considered for the Senior Quality Technician role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
- 5 years of manufacturing, mechanical or quality engineering experience
- High School diploma or GED preferred. Otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply all verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English, and demonstrated ability to perform simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong technical knowledge of machining processes, GD&T, and metrology equipment (Zeiss experience preferred).
- Proven experience in root cause analysis and corrective action in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiar with AS9100 specifications and quality documentation best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with structured analysis tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams.
As a Sr. Quality Assurance Technician, you will be responsible for the following:
- Investigate root cause of chronic scrap sources utilizing technical knowledge of machining, GD&T, and inspection methods.
- Solve component part and process problems using basic problem-solving skills.
- Support engineering by identifying problems, investigating the contributing factors, and participating in developing experiments to solve complex component part, process, and machining problems.
- Collaborate with Performance Leaders, Quality engineering, and other stakeholders to develop corrective action plans.
- Manage action item trackers related to root cause corrective action (RCCA) and audit follow-ups.
- Develop non-complex production inspection plans for manufacturing and first article inspections.
- Perform complex inspections to determine part compliance to drawing requirements, including first piece and final inspection.
- Interact with engineering and manufacturing to ensure the required workmanship and product performance is achieved in the most efficient process possible.
- Audit processes to determine process capability, verify operators have been effectively trained, understand the process requirements, and make appropriate decisions on product acceptance.
- Support hardware-related activities and training as needed
