It hires solar and BESS project engineers, estimators, assistant superintendents, safety managers, planners and schedulers, commissioning technicians, field recruiters, communications staff and HR coordinators.

POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss’ Pile Drive/GPS Technician’s main function is to support the accurate, safe, and efficient installation of piles on solar construction projects. This role is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating GPS-based pile-driving systems and related field technology to ensure pile locations, elevations, and installation data align with project plans and specifications.

The Pile Drive/GPS Technician will work closely with project teams, equipment operators, survey personnel, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve field issues, maintain accurate installation records, and help keep production activities moving safely and efficiently. The candidate must be able to work independently in active construction environments, communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and travel extensively to project sites as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot GPS-guided pile-driving equipment and associated field technology.

  • Verify pile locations, elevations, alignment, and installation data against project plans, drawings, and specifications.

  • Support pile-driving crews by providing accurate layout, positioning, and production information throughout installation activities.

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs on GPS equipment, survey equipment, pile-driving technology, and related components.

  • Respond promptly to jobsite requests involving GPS, machine-control, layout, or pile-installation issues.

  • Communicate and troubleshoot technical issues with project management, field supervision, equipment personnel, and outsourced service vendors.

  • Assist with uploading, downloading, reviewing, and maintaining project files, GPS data, production reports, and as-built information.

  • Ensure pile-driving equipment and GPS systems are safe, operable, calibrated, and ready for jobsite use.

  • Complete electronic work orders, daily reports, equipment inspections, and other required documentation accurately and on time.

  • Coordinate with project teams to identify and resolve discrepancies involving layouts, site conditions, pile locations, elevations, or equipment performance.

  • Follow all Moss Safety Guidelines and Policies to protect themselves, co-workers, equipment, and surrounding property.

  • Work safely around heavy equipment, moving mechanical parts, uneven terrain, and active construction operations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Associate degree, technical training, or relevant coursework in construction technology, surveying, engineering technology, heavy equipment, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of construction industry experience preferred.

  • Experience supporting pile-driving, solar construction, civil construction, grading, surveying, or GPS/machine-control operations preferred.

  • Experience with GPS, GNSS, machine-control, survey, layout, or construction technology systems required.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, site layouts, grade plans, staking information, and project specifications.

  • Basic understanding of pile-driving operations, heavy equipment, and site logistics preferred.

  • Ability to troubleshoot GPS hardware, software, communications, electrical connections, and field equipment issues.

  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Experience with electronic reporting, equipment-management, or construction-management software preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license required.

  • Ability to travel to jobsites and stay overnight depending on current residency and project needs.

  • Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little to no supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize workload, manage daily activities, and adapt to changing jobsite needs.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
