Motorola Solutions is an American company created in 2011 when Motorola split in two, taking the enterprise and public safety communications business while the handset operation became Motorola Mobility. It is the dominant supplier of land mobile radio systems to police, fire and emergency services worldwide, a business protected by long replacement cycles and deep integration with dispatch operations. Around that core the company has assembled video security and access control through the Avigilon and Pelco acquisitions, command centre software for emergency call handling and records, and increasingly AI-assisted analytics across the whole safety and security portfolio.

At Motorola Solutions, we believe that everything starts with our people. We’re a global close-knit community, united by the relentless pursuit to help keep people safer everywhere. We build and connect technologies to help protect people, property and places. Our solutions foster the collaboration that’s critical for safer communities, safer schools, safer hospitals, safer businesses, and ultimately, safer nations. Department Overview

At Motorola Solutions, we create technologies our customers refer to as their lifeline. Our technology platforms in communications, software, video, and services help our customers work safely and more efficiently. Whether it's helping firefighters see through smoke, enabling police officers to see around street corners, or reliably keeping the lights on in homes and businesses around the world, our work supports those who put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

Job Description

The Senior Master Scheduler plays a critical role in driving execution and delivery across the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) account and other high-profile North America PMO projects. This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end development, integration, and performance monitoring of complex project and program schedules.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, customers, subcontractors, and government program offices, the Senior Master Scheduler ensures all schedules strictly comply with contract requirements, Technical Performance Requirements (TPRs), Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), and Contract Statements of Work (CSOW).

Schedule Development & Execution Management

  • Organize, implement, and maintain an enterprise scheduling management system supporting all assigned projects and program plans.

  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders, contractors, and government program office personnel to define detailed tasks, durations, logical relationships, dependencies, and critical path networks.

  • Generate operational program schedules that adhere to Motorola Solutions' Sales to Service (S2S) delivery framework, comply with project financial accounting standards, and optimize business processes to maximize operational effectiveness across T3 and the broader NA PMO.

  • Collaborate with customers and subcontractors to establish, track, and manage program execution toward key milestones, critical path events, external/internal dependencies, and accomplishment criteria.

Performance Analysis, Controls & Reporting

  • Evaluate ongoing schedule progress, logic relationships, float, and overall performance to proactively identify emerging bottlenecks, risks, and critical path issues.

  • Conduct comprehensive monthly project schedule reviews, participate in monthly program reviews, and deliver detailed schedule and network analysis feedback.

  • Support and coordinate all schedule control issues in alignment with the Lead/Principal Master Scheduler.

  • Generate and translate weekly schedule performance reports and monthly cost performance reports for executive leadership to enable data-driven analysis and corrective action.

  • Perform detailed schedule analysis to generate Contract Variance Reports, incorporating Root Cause Analysis and Mitigation Forecasting to protect project timeline and scope integrity.

Experience & Education

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on project scheduling experience spanning both construction and software development projects across the public and private sectors.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent practical experience in project controls, construction management, engineering, or related fields).

Technical Tools & Methodologies

  • Primary Tool: 5+ years of advanced experience with Microsoft Project.

  • Enterprise Tools: Proficiency with Motorola-standard and industry tools, including Planview Portfolios (Enterprise One), Primavera P6, and Smartsheet.

  • Frameworks & Best Practices: Solid understanding of industry best practices and scheduling guidelines, including PASEG (NDIA Program Integrated Trip Guide), PMBOK (PMI), and related scheduling standards.

Core Competencies

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a proven track record of root cause analysis and schedule mitigation forecasting.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, capable of translating complex schedule data into actionable insights for internal leadership, public sector clients, and subcontractors.

  • Deep knowledge of WBS architecture, baseline control, float management, and critical path methodology (CPM).
