As our Senior School Theatre Programme Leader, you will:

  • Lead a dynamic theatre programme and culture through productions, showcases, performances, outreach and community events.
  • Teach IB Diploma Theatre (SL & HL) in Grades 11-12.
  • Teach IB MYP Theatre in Grade 10 and IB MYP Performing Arts in Grades 6-9.
  • Lead students and colleagues in bringing Senior School theatre productions from concept to curtain call.
  • Inspire students to pursue outstanding levels of achievement in the performing arts.
  • Share a deep knowledge of, and genuine enthusiasm for, drama and world theatre.
  • Serve as Homeroom Advisor for approximately 12 Senior School students.
  • Potentially teach another MYP or DP subject aligned with your experience, qualifications and interests.

What You’ll Bring

You are an educator, artist, collaborator and mentor who can create an environment where young people feel empowered to take creative risks and discover their voices.

You’ll bring:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
  • At least 3 years of experience teaching drama/theatre to adolescents.
  • Eligibility to teach in British Columbia, or a willingness to complete the required certification process.
  • A passion for theatre and a proven ability to connect with, challenge and inspire students.
  • Strong organisational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to thrive both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Flexibility and resilience to manage the demands of an extensive performance and rehearsal schedule.

Experience That Will Make You Stand Out

We’d especially love to hear from candidates with:

  • Experience teaching IB Diploma Programme Theatre and a strong understanding of IB programmes.
  • Experience with the IB Educator Network, including roles such as Workshop Leader or Examiner.
  • Technical theatre skills and production experience.
  • The ability to teach one or more additional subjects.
  • Connections with international theatre organisations such as ISTA.
  • Experience creating ambitious, inclusive and memorable performing arts experiences for young people.

More Than a Classroom

At Mulgrave, teachers are expected to create learning environments built on positive relationships, care, curiosity and authentic engagement.

You’ll design meaningful learning experiences, use technology thoughtfully, respond to diverse student needs, and provide purposeful formative and summative assessment and feedback. You’ll collaborate with colleagues and families, contribute to professional learning, participate in school events, and model the respectful, timely communication that strengthens our community.

Most importantly, you’ll embrace the school’s mission and values and help students discover what is possible when creativity, courage and collaboration meet.
