The 2026-27 faculty grid for this position is $75,461 to $116,035based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education. Faculty with a Master's will be paid at a higher range.

Are you an enthusiastic French educator who loves creating joyful, meaningful language-learning experiences for
young children?
We are seeking an inspiring French Teacher to join our Junior School and teach French language acquisition from Kindergarten through Grade 5 within an engaging International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) environment. This position commences as soon as possible.
This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who believes that language learning should be active, authentic, creative, and connected to the world beyond the classroom.
What you'll do
- Teach engaging French lessons to students from Kindergarten to Grade 5
- Create rich opportunities for students to communicate authentically in French
- Design learning experiences grounded in inquiry and real-world connections
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and the French team on transdisciplinary units
- Bring the richness and diversity of Francophone cultures into the classroom
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Use technology creatively to enhance teaching and learning
- Develop meaningful, authentic assessments and provide timely feedback
- Build a positive, inclusive classroom where students feel confident taking risks with language
- Contribute to co-curricular activities and the wider life of the school
- Partner with colleagues and families through respectful, timely communication
Who you are
You are a passionate educator who:
- Has an excellent command of French
- Has appropriate preparation and experience teaching French as an additional language
- Enjoys working with elementary-aged learners
- Is collaborative, creative, organized, and relationship-focused
- Can inspire students to develop both their language skills and their curiosity about the world

- Values inquiry-based and student-centered learning

Qualifications
Candidates must:
- Be a resident in Canada and legally entitled to work in Canada
- Hold or be prepared to obtain an age-appropriate First Aid Certificate
- Hold or be eligible to obtain BC teacher certification
Experience with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), particularly teaching French within a PYP setting, is an asset.
