Financial Clerk

Key responsibilities:

Accounts Payable

• Process supplier invoices accurately and timeously.
• Match invoices to purchase orders, goods received notes, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare supplier payment schedules for approval.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain supplier records and supporting documentation.

• Assist with the preparation and submission of client invoices.
• Capture and reconcile customer payments.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts where required.
• Maintain accurate debtor records.

• Capture daily bank transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Reconcile petty cash and site cash floats.
• Ensure all transactions are correctly allocated in the accounting system.

• Assist with the collection and verification of timesheets.
• Capture payroll-related information accurately.
• Process employee advances, deductions, and reimbursements.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll information.

• Capture and allocate site operational costs.
• Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
• Assist with monthly cost reporting.
• Support contract-specific cost tracking and project accounting requirements.

• Process journal entries as instructed.
• Assist with monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain financial records in accordance with company procedures.
• Support month-end and year-end financial close processes.

• Verify purchase requisitions and supporting documentation.
• Assist with the monitoring of purchase orders and supplier accounts.
• Reconcile fuel, consumables, spare parts, and inventory-related transactions.
• Liaise with procurement and stores departments regarding discrepancies.

• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
• Support internal and external audit processes.
• Maintain accurate filing systems for financial documentation.
• Assist in compiling management reports and financial schedules.

Skills required for the job:

• Must have experience working in the mining industry
• Must have experience working on SAGE Pastel
• Candidate must be able to prepare basic financial reports for management
• Knowledge of transactions up to trial balance
• Good negotiation, communication, and organisational skills
• Computer literacy
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent financial literacy

• Matric certificate
• A qualification in financial accounting will be highly advantageous
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Clean criminal record
• Own transport
• Valid driver's license

The successful incumbent must have at least three to five (3-5) year's experience within a financial role, experience within the mining industry will be highly advantageous.
