Backend Engineer - Memberships

About the Opportunity

You will work in the Grow & Engage  domain, the heart of the customer experience, spanning everything from customer acquisition and onboarding to our premium membership tiers and the daily engagement of millions of users. Specifically, within the Subscriptions  segment, you'll help build and improve features that enable customers to discover, purchase, and get the most value from N26 premium plans.

As part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, you'll work alongside experienced engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts while continuing to grow your technical skills and software engineering expertise.

In this role, you will:

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services with the support of your teammates.
• Contribute to the delivery of customer-facing features by implementing well-scoped technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, team discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions while continuously learning from your peers.
• Troubleshoot production issues, improve system reliability, and contribute to operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.
• Continuously improve your engineering skills by learning new technologies, tools, and best practices.

What you need to be successful

Background

• Experience building backend applications using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Understanding of backend software engineering fundamentals, including APIs, databases, and distributed systems concepts.
• Familiarity with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.

Skills

• Good understanding of software engineering principles and clean coding practices.
• Familiarity with microservices or service-oriented architectures.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms and modern development practices, preferably AWS.
• Motivation to write reliable, well-tested, and maintainable code.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
